red750 Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Something came up on Facebook about Doug Parkinson, which reminded me of this one. I don't know if it was posted before. 2
Jerry_Atrick Posted April 12, 2025 Author Posted April 12, 2025 I may have previously submitted this, but jeez this bloke is good: 2 1

onetrack Posted April 13, 2025 Posted April 13, 2025 Yes, I second that, a great musician with some great hits. "Girls on the Avenue" is a favourite of mine. 2
Jerry_Atrick Posted April 13, 2025 Author Posted April 13, 2025 He s one of my favourite musicians... This is may favourite song of his, but to be honest, most are so good, it is splitting hairs. Though, I can relate to this a bit from my consulting days where I travelled for months on end... 2
ClintonB Posted April 14, 2025 Posted April 14, 2025 It's going to be a bit sad over the next decade when all of our good musicians are gone or can no longer perform. I don't think I could handle.going to a mumble rap show or other genres, that are bad now for old times sake. 1 1
Marty_d Posted April 14, 2025 Posted April 14, 2025 There are heaps of good musicians out now. Whatever bands you love from the past, there'd be people doing the same genres now (and in some cases doing them better). I'm the same - stuck in the 80's and 90's, love Metallica / Guns & Roses / AC/DC / Led Zeppelin etc etc... but have heard some ripper covers. Five Finger Death Punch are a modern-ish fave, their version of "House of the Rising Sun" is fantastic. 1 1
randomx Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago (edited) Nick Cave, an absolute national treasure. But ofc silly old Aussies just ignore him while the rest of the world is in awe . Tash Sultana will be another the same sadly. This girl has so much talent feel and passion , but she's not even on the radio here. But as usual the rest of the world are just wth , she's incredible and rave about her as anyone with half a brain would on sight. like her or not wouldn't matter no denying the mind blowing talent. Grew up on Bowie, Alice Cooper, saw both a few times. Same Marty , saw Gunners twice and acdc, saw them at school once too before they were famous but to this day, whata band. Chilli Peppers a fav. l 2nd Girls on the Avenue, fantastic song and much of his others. Never actually owned one of his records though probably not what l'd buy as such but a huge talent nonetheless. Litespeed Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Check out 'Post Modern Jukebox on the tubes. Awesome renditions of great music. Huge talent.
onetrack Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago We went to a Post Modern Jukebox stage show at the Astor Theatre in Perth about 18 mths ago. They put on quite a show, but I prefer the original golden oldies. SWMBO loved them, she was the one who saw the show, and booked the tickets. 1
