old man emu Posted February 5 Share Posted February 5 Interestingly, the "Battle of Brisbane" may have had its origin in a few Aussie soldiers going after a couple of US Military Police who were roughing up a Yankee soldier. According to Australian historian Barry Ralph, on 26 November 1942, an intoxicated Private James R. Stein of the U.S. 404th Signal Company left the hotel where he had been drinking when it closed at 6:50 p.m. and began walking to the Post Exchange (PX) on the corner of Creek and Adelaide Street some 50 metres (55 yards) further down the road. He had stopped to talk with three Australians when Private Anthony E. O'Sullivan of the U.S. 814th Military Police Company (MP) approached and asked Stein for his leave pass. While Stein was looking for it, the MP became impatient and asked him to hurry up before grabbing his pass and arresting him. At this the Australians began swearing at the MP and telling him to leave Stein alone. American MPs were not well regarded by Australians because the Australians thought they were arrogant and used batons at the least provocation. When O'Sullivan raised his baton as if to strike one of the Australians, they attacked him. More MPs arrived, blowing whistles, while nearby Australian servicemen and several civilians rushed to help their countrymen. Nev Not very much related to Trump, but my mother was a nurse in Brisbane during the war. She spoke of two major drunken brawls in Qld. One of which resulted in overcrowding of Casualty in the hospital. The word was that hundreds of US and ADF servicemen were involved in that one. Of course there is high probability of exaggeration by participants and minimisation by authorities. But the animosity ran deep and lingered for a lifetime. Here he's employed one who claimed he didn't even own a laptop or desktop!! He was trying to watch Govt CCTV evidence on a tablet, and lodged a complaint that he couldn't access the footage! The Govt even GAVE him a bloody computer, so he could watch it!! You couldn't make this stuff up, it's like a permanent circus, or a political Keystone Cops. He's arranged to have Ronna McDaniels, the current head of the RNC to be pushed out and another total Trump sycophant (Chris LaCivita) installed in her place. In addition, he's installing his DIL, Lara Trump as co-chair of the RNC. The deviousness and rat-cunning of the man is unbelievable. What he's now aiming to do, is to utilise the RNC's election funds to pay all his legal bills and judgements, because "they're all a political witch hunt" - so it's O.K. to use all those political funds to pay for all the costs and judgements tied to his bad behaviour. Two Political Action Committees (PAC's) paid $50M of Trumps legal bills last year. However, Trumps manoeuvre now is to merge the MAGA operations and the RNC, so it's all about cost reduction and having access to one big pool of political contributors.
