Wow! "Fungible" Who pulled that word kicking and screaming into the colloquial vocabulary?

 

Definition of fungible:  being something (such as money or a commodity) of such a nature that one part or quantity may be replaced by another equal part or quantity in paying a debt or settling an account Oil, wheat, and lumber are fungible commodities. “Non-fungible” more or less means that it’s unique and can’t be replaced with something else. 

 

You can buy an  a printed reproduction of an original work of art. If you got home and found that the print was damaged, you could return it for replacement The print is a fungible item. However, the original art work is non-fungible. It is a one-of-a kind.
