old man emu
Australians must be the most unimaginative dressers in the world. I see no problem with changing styles, and an acceptance of informal clothing, but I simply detest the drabness of current clothing colours. Why must everything be black? We live in a pleasantly bright country. Why not wear clothing that reflects that light from bright colours? Speaking of our neighbours across the Ditch, TV foodie, author, international travel guide and famously colourful red-head Peta Mathias said, "We suffer from a massive national lack of self confidence." "Everything is confidence. Sex appeal is confidence, good looks are confidence, the way you dress is confidence. We miss out on so many things that would give us so much pleasure. I don't own any beige or gray clothes and why would you? Just the very colour you wear changes your whole day." The very same words would apply to Australians. Or is it that we wear so much black in mourning for our country that used to be?

Operation Carthage, on 21 March 1945, was a British air raid on Copenhagen, Denmark during the Second World War which caused significant collateral damage. The target of the raid was the Shellhus, used as Gestapo headquarters in the city centre. They SS could have avoided that if they didn't wear black uniforms. 1

Yenn
I have always had style. I wear khaki shirts and shorts. have done so for at least 50 years and I cannot recall anyone ever saying that I didn't have style.
onetrack
Yenn, I never imagined a few early years exposed to military life, would have such a long-lasting impact on your dress style. Do you still wear epaulettes as well? Edited January 2, 2022 by onetrack
facthunter
Military training has a lot to answer for. So has religion. Relies on INDOCTRINATION. Ours is not to question WHY. Ours is just to DO or DIE. Trump calls them "Suckers and Losers".. Nev
pmccarthy
Learning how to black webbing belts and gaiters or put a bash into a hat has not done me any harm, but nor has it been of any use.
