Popular Post old man emu Posted July 15 Popular Post Posted July 15 Peta Credlin is an ultra Right Winger. She was an advisor to Abbott. I wouldn't beleive her if she said G'day to me. 1 5 1
Popular Post Marty_d Posted July 15 Popular Post Posted July 15 (edited) Anything with Sky News on the label is pretty much guaranteed to be wrong. Actually, I'll go one step further and say I'm damn proud of Albo at the moment. He's doing a great job in China, and the Trump administration is like a tanty-throwing spoiled baby. Jerry_Atrick Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Oh, it wasn't that hard to get if you have a modicum of understanding of who the different political parties are 😉 1
old man emu Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Albo's mob is walking the tightrope between Chinese economic activity and US military activity. Albo has to show loyalty to treaties between the US and Australia while acknowledging the economic importance of China to Australia. I've said it before that I don't think China will take military action any further than the South China Sea. The legal and governance issues of the South China Sea are complex and contentious. China’s nine-dash-line claim, and the other maritime states declaring their overlapping 200-nautical-mile exclusive economic zones under the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, tend to dominate Asian and global dialogues. Taiwan is China's major territorial goal. Taiwan, formerly known as Formosa, by the Qing dynasty of China to the Empire of Japan in the Treaty of Shimonoseki, which ended the first Sino-Japnese War. The Republic of Formosa was a short-lived republic that existed on the island of Taiwan in 1895. The Republic lasted 151 days; it was proclaimed on 23 May 1895 and extinguished on 21 October, when the Republican capital Tainan was taken over by the Japanese. The territory remained in Japanese hands until Japna's defeat in WWII. The politics of Taiwan soverignty is complex. At present, domestically, the major political contention is between the Pan-Blue Coalition, who favors eventual Chinese unification under the ROC and promoting a pan-Chinese identity, contrasted with the Pan-Green Coalition, which favors eventual Taiwanese independence and promoting a Taiwanese identity. 2

facthunter Posted July 23 Posted July 23 It's meeting an agreed schedule so why SHOUT about it? Why give Trump's USA a chance to default on the deal at this stage? It was Sco Mo that signed us up, don't forget. Nev 1
red750 Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Because Chump is considering pulling the plug on AUKUS. There is no guarantee that we will get anything, or any of our money back. You'd keep paying money (lots of it) for nothing?
onetrack Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Chump won't pull the plug on AUKUS, he's smart enough to see it means a lot of money being transferred to the U.S. from Australia - and I'm sure he's currently working out a way to personally benefit from that $368B we're going to apparently have to cough up - just to get a few nuclear subs that will be obsolete by the time we get them. 2
facthunter Posted July 23 Posted July 23 If He (Trumper) duds Aus let that be on his shoulders. We default then we give him an out. That would be dumb. Of Course this is real money but a drop in the bucket in the Big scheme of things. I'm sure they have had advice. Aukus Includes Britain. There is a "review" in Place That in itself is not out of place or unreasonable. Considering "Pulling the Plug" wouldn't automatically BE INFERED and it's challengeable if the terms are not reasonable. nev 1
