If not for Youtube ...

Compared to some of you I feel like a luddite. I don't think I subscribe to any channels, although I do spend time watching uTube music videos when there's nothing much on TV, which is often. I also go down lots of uTube rabbit holes following various history, aircraft and other interesting topics that I come across. Occasionally I'll look up some specific `how-to' videos, but that's about it.  I'll have to lift my game.

Only 30 or so subscriptions for me, but I watch every day. It has cleared up things I have wondered about all my life. Such as ancient civilisations, now I believe the conventional archeologists 100% because I know how thoroughly they work. The ratbags who say otherwise I can now ignore, and no longer waste time on.

We could have an interesting discussion about that, pm. Some of my favourite channels show ancient artifacts that conventional archaeology cannot explain. Those same mainstream specialists have a bad record of mocking new theories, until new discoveries (eventually) lead them to adapt their mindset.

I dunno - today I just found out a hack to turn my ride-on mower into having the equivalent of power steering! And it's such a simple modification! (now, you're all going to go looking for that video, aren't you?) :cheezy grin:

Any chance of posting the link?

Wow! You can AFFORD a zero-turn mower?? My old Cox ride-on cost me $50, and then I had to repair it to working condition!

I reckon I'm up to my neck in it now, it's run to nearly $500 in total to date, but it's going to be one flash little Cox when it's done. New full-size tractor seat (cut down in backrest height), new battery, new tyres, rebuilt steering, rebuilt starter pinion, new blades - I even had to fabricate a new seat base, because the original was so rusty!

The joys of cheap mowers.

Looking at new ride-ons makes me wonder about how long they last in the hands of the average modern person. Few people even know how to check tyre pressure or blades. Run them until they stop.

Must cost them a fortune for annual maintenance.

I have a friend whose new ride-on keeps slipping the blade drive belt. It's gone through two in six months. The service manual is pathetic and once again I have had to rely on YouTube to figure things out.

I found that misalignment of idler pulleys will drastically shorten belt life, and often cause belts to jump off drive pulleys. The aim is to get the belt to ride in centre of all the flat idlers.

Toro has 200 hours on the same belt. My wife blows all the grass off everything before she put's it away. I just help put the fuel in it. The jerry is quite heavy and I don't want any spills. It has to cool for at least 10 mins before refuelling,. (safety). Nev
