The Trump Presidency - an analysis

Like they did with OBAMA. Stop him doing almost everything in the Senate, then blame him for doing little and then be obsessed with destroying all he did manage to do. Can't have NO BLACK man in Da WHITE House. Trump was the source of all the "Birther" lies about Obama. What a Contrast. Obama is educated and fluent .Trump boasts he's never read a book (and it shows). Nev

The Trumpet has announced the latest round of pardons. They include a couple of Russiagaters jailed for lying to the FBI, a couple of pollies jailed for insider trading, and four war criminals. Also a sentence commutation for another pollie doing time for charity fraud. Sounds just like Donald's sort of people. Liars, criminals and fraudsters. Good one Donny.

Republicans allow black men in the White House - cleaning & food prep.

Borderline, but very funny!

OK.. so here's a positive abouit Trump - even now...

Although he is doing it all for the wrong reasons, he is showing some attributes that we all would love to have and usually try to instill in our children.. 1) If you want something, don't give up; and 2) Always look out fo ryour mates!

If course, we would also want judgement, humility, respect for fairness, etc.. and that is sadly lacking, but the effer is just not giving up. Of course, he has given up his job as sitting president to chase his dreams and his methods are neither what we would condone, teach, and hopefully, do.. But  I wanted to find at least some good traits in him. Of course, they are driven by nefarious desires, but there ya go.

I read in interview with Ivanka Trump (snr) where she described him as onme who, when he sees aproblem, doesn't dwell - he just gets on with it...

He certainly got on with the problem of Covid. I have been looking at the daily figures from when India was supposed to be in trouble. Now India has a much greater population than the USA and at one stage it was only half a million cases behind the USA. Trump declared it was under control and since then USA has surged ahead of India by about half a million per day.

I still reckon the Republicans will have to do something to kurb him before Biden is Inaugurated or he will demolish their democratic system.

To be fair to Trump, his pardons are a drop in the ocean compared to Clinton's Pardongate. It's just that like millions of others, I can't help taking the mickey out of him. It will be a boring world come January 20.

Clinton pardoned hundreds, including 140 on his last day in office. They included the usual fraudsters, extortionists, kidnappers, terrorists, pedophiles and drug criminals. One of the druggies was his own brother. Bill set the gold standard for pardoning crooks.

I subscribe to a wide range of news and analysis services and sure get to see how blinkered some Americans are.

One famous American commentator is still claiming masssive election fraud by the Democrats and blaming Democrat judges for tossing out Trump’s appeals. (He doesn’t mention the many Republican officials, Judges and Trump appointees who have also said there was no fraud.)

He has the breathtaking hide to lecture the world about how it should handle the Covid pandemic, claiming that “lockdowns don’t work”.

Pretty amusing to hear all this advice from one of the elites of a country which has totally stuffed up its response.

Countries which didn’t take his advice:

Taiwan: 253 days without a single case.

Vietnam: very few cases.

NZ: free of the virus.

Australia: opening up after almost eliminating the virus.

USA (source of lots advice about what we should have done): millions of cases, thousands of deaths per day. California’s hospitals are at breaking point and they are appealing for 3,000 health staff- from countries like Taiwan and Australia!

You didn't mention China which has far fewer cases per head of population than even Australia and New Zealand.

It is funny that Taiwan Viet Nam Laos and Cambodia all have low numbers per head and they are all Asian. Another couple are Fiji and Tanzania.

No matter what I think the stand out state is China. They had the first cases and therefore no prior guidance. The real stand out is USA led by Trump to ignore any reasoned advice, not even thinking that God would provide.

For a so called intelligent first world country they have shown themselves to be complete and utter idiots.

You could liken them to Germany in the thirties, they have their leader and follow him blindly, without any thought as to the sanity of their decisions. Do they realise that they have made themselves the laughing stock of the whole world.

There is no doubt that Trump will go down in history as Fake leader., unless of course the history is written off aas fake news to keep the lunatics running the asylum looking sane.

I see the news article today reporting that December 2020 was America's worst month for COVID-19 deaths - 65,000 people died from the virus in America last month. What an absolutely immoral statistic.

The richest country in the world with the most multi-billionaires, the most expensive health system, the worlds worst leader, and little care for the health of its citizens.

I often wonder how many Americans are drowning in health-care debt, due to the virus and its accompanying health complications, plus the exorbitant cost of American health care.

Most americans cannot afford health care and we are going the same way. When Little Johnnie said we should all have insurance and the price would go down I realised that i could not afford it. Now I am looking at above 6 grand for a cataract operation, but I will still be ahead, having not been insured for years. Then I see on the TV an ad asking for a donation of $25 to let some third world person have a cataract operation. No wonder doctors are so jealous of their trade.

Trump has demonstrated that the USA is a failed democracy. One of the largest parties, the Republicans is allowing him to drag the country into one hell of a mess.

Trump keeps saying he won the election and I think he really believes he did, but nobody else seems to believe him. Really troubling is the fact that Trump is causing all sorts of problems with government and that party is letting him do it. They cannot see that democracy is failing and that many americans are dieing because of failed leadership.

Somebody commented that there is now a Republican party and a Trump party, neither of which should be given breathing room in my opinion.

Just keep a good eye on what our leader does in the next few days, he is just as likely to go as mad as the Donald, if he thinks it will lift him in the eyes of the president.

In the employment world when someone is made redundant they are not given much notice and are usually escorted from the building.   This is because a bitter sacked employee could cause a lot of damage to a business in their remaining days.     I do think that it would have been better if Trump could have been escorted from the premises the day after the election but alas this is not how the system works. He still has time to destroy things.

The US death toll from Covid-19 is tipped to exceed 165,000 this month alone. Add that to the 362,000 already and you have more deaths than all the wars they have been involved in since World War 1. Hows that for a smart wealthy democracy or should I say a dumb wealthy despotic flawed democracy.

I don't know where you got your figures from, Kevin - but 165,000 deaths projected for this month, is not correct.

The U.S. recorded 65,000 deaths in December 2020 - the highest monthly toll so far. The January 2021 death toll is likely to be similar or slightly higher.

I do agree with all your other statements.

I don't think he really believes he won, it's more that he is psychologically incapable of accepting that he's a "loser".  It's in his brain.  The man is a nut job and anyone with half a brain knew that before he won in 2016.  Hell, we saw it shortly after the election when he insisted that the crowd at his inauguration was bigger than Obama's, when photos clearly showed it was a lot smaller.

He would say he "won" no matter what the situation was.  If he lost fifty million bucks in a property deal he'd still say he won.

There's a report that Prestwick Airport has been advised the B757, informally known as "Trump One" is expected at Prestwick on 19th Jan - one day before Joe Bidens inauguration. Trump's golf course, Turnberry, is close to Prestwick. The signs are, that Trump will not be in the U.S., for Bidens inauguration.

The sad reality is that too many businesses still operate on that premise.

Meanwhile business leaders in enlightened places like Europe and NZ value their staff and have brought in a 4-day working week, with measurable increases in productivity.
