onetrack Posted July 8 Posted July 8 There are thousands of earthquake-recording stations, all over the world. There are 150 stations in Australia and over 500 world-wide. They record in near real-time and the earthquake-watchers know about earthquakes within a few seconds of them occurring. This is all tied in with Tsunami warnings, because early warnings of Tsunamis are vital to reduce losses. https://www.ga.gov.au/education/natural-hazards/earthquake 1

When I made some enquiries on-line, I found that it had been reported on a website originating in the USA. Was it really only "the other night", OME? The earthquake records say that the only decent earthquake in recent times in your neck of the woods, was a 5.3 magnitude 'quake at Nyngan on May 23, 2025. https://earthquaketrack.com/p/australia/new-south-wales/recent 1
old man emu Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Me name's not Rip van Bloody Winkle. But when I fall asleep, I sleep the sleep of the Just. Mag. 3.1 earthquake - Gilgandra, 55 km northeast of Dubbo, Western Plainsal, New South Wales, Australia, on Monday, Jul 7, 2025, at 01:15 am (GMT +10) 1
onetrack Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Ahhh, a 3.1 'quake is just a gentle bed-rocking, OME! - not a real earthquake! 😄 1
old man emu Posted July 8 Posted July 8 It certainly stirs up the animals. There are horses in the npaddocks around my dwelling, and they get really spooked when earthquakes happen. 1

Marty_d Posted July 8 Posted July 8 As long as he doesn't sleep like a baby. You know, waking up every 3 hours wetting the bed and crying for a boob. 2
