Another problem we have with my son WFH is the dog. It's a smallish breed, about the size of a Jack Russell, but has a bark like a Great Dane. And it barks at anything, the cats chasing each other through the house, anyone coming to the door, neighbourhood dogs barking, cars and trucks on the street, anyone dropping something. And as he lives indoors due to the neighbours dogs which would eat him, we have to try and control the barking when my son has a customer call going.

Maybe it was to appease those who can't work from home - tradies, bus drivers, train drivers, medical professional, people in service industries, etc.

I read another report which plunged Pope Francis into a very sordid place. According to the report, he covered up the sex crimes of a number of senior clergy, including one charged with the violent rape of nuns, and another who set up a seminary in Brazil for young men so he could sexually abuse them.

Another report, or opinion I read before it disappeared, said that one of the prime policies of Dutton, later recalled, would have turned about 37% of voters away. That was the decision to end work from home, which was later reduced to public servants only, before being dropped. 37% of workers work from home and like it that way. Another was the establishment of a DOGE-like force, under Jacinta Price. Even the "Get Australia Back on Track" slogan smacked of Trump, hence Albo's reference to not needing inspiration from overseas. My daughter didn't like Dutton, saying he was too rightwing extreme. Personally, I hate work from home. My son works from home 3 days a week,,normally the days I go to the Men's Shed, but his shift times from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm, every week, make me spitting mad. His 'office' is a computer desk with laptop and two elevated 26" monitors in the family room, partly in front of my TV and I have to have the TV on mute until he logs off. Closed captions are useless and his 'office' won't fit in his room. My wife bought him a king-size Chainsaw Massacre bed that tilts up with storage under it a few years ago, which fills the room.

In reference to Peter Overton's comment in Nine's coverage, this has been reported. Amnesty International agreed the term Aborigine is not acceptable. 'You're more likely to make friends by saying Aboriginal person, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander,' the non-profit said. 'If you can, try using the person's clan or tribe name and if you are talking about both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, it's best to say either Indigenous Australians or Indigenous people'. 'Without a capital a, aboriginal can refer to an Indigenous person from anywhere in the world. The word means original inhabitant in Latin.'

There have been thousands of reports of how so many Americans are turnip heads, starting with their election of the orange buffoon. I've just been looking at one of the miriad of riddles posted on FB. The question was "What state has only one syllable?" Of course, the answer is Maine. But one intellectual replied Arkansas, while another answered "All of them - they are solid states. No gas or liquid." There is no hope.

Election day rocked as controversial One Nation founder tragically dies. Australian politics has been rocked by the news the co-founder of One Nation David Ettridge has died after a long battle with cancer. The 79-year-old former politician, and former menswear model, is believed to have passed away on Wednesday in South Australia. Ettridge founded the One Nation Party alongside Pauline Hanson and David Oldfield in 1997, holding the role of national director until 2000. He and Hanson were jailed in August 2003 after they were found guilty of fraudulently registering One Nation in the District Court of Queensland. The pair were eventually acquitted and their convictions were overturned two and a half months later in the Court of Appeal. The two politicians reportedly fell out after they were released from prison, with Ettridge claiming on ABC's Four Corners in 2017 that One Nation abandoned him. Ettridge claimed he had been let with debt, costing him his home and personal wealth, after the party didn't compensate him for his legal fees. One Nation rejected this claim and told him to cease contact with the party.

Our polling booth is in the Secondary College at the end of our street. There was quite a lengthy queue, but I must have looked all in, because a young guy came up and said "You can come straight through." I said, "Thanks, but I'll wait here with my daughter." Only a minute or two later, a lady in a hi-viz jacket came up and said "Come with me." and walked my daughter and I straight through. Probably pee'd a lot in the queue off. The white Senate paper was more than a full armspan long.
