If you take replace "16 year-old" with "punter" in your first paragraph, the answer would be the same. 16yo's are probably more aware of political impacts on their future than current voters.

I was discussing that this morning. My view is that civics, ethics and comparative government systems should be in the grade 9 curriculum, and if you pass you can vote from 16. (I'd also like to see it rolled out to the rest of the population but that may be a bridge too far).

I think they're both going to emerge from this election with less seats than they started with. I'm hoping for an increase in Green and sensible independents. I'd really like to see the bloody stadium dropped and that billion going to Health. Talking to our neighbours today, their daughter has epilepsy. They took her into hospital last night during her eighth seizure. Her father said it's horrible, but he prefers she's still fitting when they arrive because that way she gets taken straight in and bypasses the multi hour wait in the crowded waiting room.
