Well, you don't have to be. Our neighbours are not connected to the grid and have used their own solar and wind for the past 15 years. They've even installed a gas bag thingy where they shovel in cowshit at one end and the other end runs to a gas hob on their stove. I'd love to get a big battery, more solar and not have any more goddamn power bills. -

I don't think he can actually run for president - he had to get something like 100,000 names behind him first (can't remember exactly how it works but remember seeing this in the news). So it's more of a protest/awareness thing that out of a nation of over 300 million people, the best they can come up with to lead them is a 74yo criminal or an 81yo.

Something fairly ironic about the religious lobby supporting someone who displays a moral code pretty much diametrically opposite to their ideals, while not supporting someone who apparently is quietly and deeply religious. Still, that's religion for you.

Metric system is very sensible Spacey. Kilo = 1,000. So kilometre is 1,000 metres. 0.6 km would be 600 metres, 0.06 would be 60 metres, 0.006 would be 6 metres. None of this inch/foot/yard/furlong/cubit/mile nonsense. All you need are millimetre, 1000 of them = metre, 1000 of them = kilometre. Now you can measure everything (except for very small distances - micrometre - or very large distances - light years / minutes / seconds).

He's got a lot of name recognition and as previously stated, there are many pockets of conservative people down here. I made sure I put him at #31 on the ticket and worked my way backwards. This happens everywhere though. Victoria hasn't been immune from dodgy conservatives either, nor has NSW - you kind of expect them in QLD because they've had so many. I'm not sure of what you're trying to get at by slamming minority government. Yes a party can formulate policy but at least in a minority government they HAVE to negotiate with the cross bench to get that through. If you had the LNP with a majority government I would find that far worse.

Whoa back there Nev, a lot of people care about the running of the state and I think that the result of a hung parliament proves this. They didn't vote blindly along party lines and the Green vote increased so I don't think the result is as bad as it could have been.

Which century are you living in Spacey? Cities are full of struggling students and wage slaves. Certain leafy suburbs may have a concentration of mansions, but the truly rich live far from the hoi polloi.
