It's not fair for someone earning $30k to pay the same rate of tax as someone earning $30m. (Not that the latter actually pays tax, they use every available method to minimize what they pay). The tax scale should be progressive, but keep increasing not top out at whatever it is now.

I've got a 17yo son and a 15yo son. Neither of them are "brainless", in fact I think they may be smarter than me. Look at the general population. There's 40yo's out there that you wouldn't trust to mop a floor. Old folks who don't know what century it is. People with ideas so weird you don't know how they manage to feed themselves. But all these people get to vote. I don't have a problem lowering the voting age, but it's not on the agenda here, as far as I know.

If you take replace "16 year-old" with "punter" in your first paragraph, the answer would be the same. 16yo's are probably more aware of political impacts on their future than current voters.

I was discussing that this morning. My view is that civics, ethics and comparative government systems should be in the grade 9 curriculum, and if you pass you can vote from 16. (I'd also like to see it rolled out to the rest of the population but that may be a bridge too far).

Anything with Sky News on the label is pretty much guaranteed to be wrong. Actually, I'll go one step further and say I'm damn proud of Albo at the moment. He's doing a great job in China, and the Trump administration is like a tanty-throwing spoiled baby.
