It would be great if we could go back to the days when Trade Unions worked towards the betterment of their members. Luckily the Unions wrested a lot of benefits from Big Business which remain in place today. If anyone wants to bag Unions to me, I'll simply ask them if they would be prepared to go back to a 48 hour week, bugger-all holiday leave, no paid sick leave etc. It amazes me that the people in business and politics who always scream that any improvement in the conditions of people who work will destroy the economy, are quite happy to avail themselves of those Union-won benefits.

 

Would you really like to live in a system where there is no job security; no liveable basic wage and no economic protection in the event of illness or injury? If you would like that, then there is a number of flights from Australia to the USA each day.

Go and live in a Country where trade Unions are Not  allowed and you will have dangerous Practices and something like Slavery .Your pilot will load the fuel the Company tells him is enough, even though By Law it's the PIC's call. It becomes Known that carrying extra fuel means you don't come Monday. Nothing is Put in writing of course. It's similar with Not agreeing to carry unserviceability's when creepy crawley other pilots will to gain Promotion with Shady Operators. Same with extending Hours, or not having the required rest between tours of duty.  Nev

The aircraft Perilous Pauline used to fly around in was Piloted by James Ashby and was a JABIRU donated by someone and I think was registered with the RAAus Itwas decorated with Her Partys Name and ther shold be Plenty of Images of it around. It will be interesting on Saturday night to see how One Nation goes in South Australia. Despite all the talk, I don't think they're confident of picking up any lower house seats. As a consolation, if they get a good primary vote and fall short on preferences, it would be a financial windfall for them under SA's new electoral laws considering they're running candidates in every seat.

Our world is changing from what we knew in the past

The rules from yesteryear now need casting aside

Previous past leaders couldn't read the barometer

Like Howard and his ilk, they couldn't estimate the future.

 

They let things drift along, "She'll be right" no worries

Our leaders yet, unable to comprehend our nation's needs

None of them unable to understand our tenuous grip on reality

While inside our world, we citizens are becoming irrelevant.

 

For yonks we haven't spawned a capable and visioned leader

For this aberration we have to blame our democratic system

We select career politicians with a three year game cycle

And some of 'em come to administer with no brains at all !

 

Whilst we muddle along, we see ourselves as big and strong

But all around us, the world is changing dramatically

We are slow to react, seems our leadership cannot spell proactive

We must accept the changes thrust upon us - and that stinks !

 

If I think we are progressing as a nation, I delude myself

We invent something worthy but we won't get behind it

Overseas buyers buy the rights and take it away, its cruel

Guess we'll just have to be happy being the world's biggest quarry !
