Is that anything like albo and co promising not to change negative gearing? Maybe they both had their fingers crossed.

Changing the conditions for negative gearing in a small economy like Australia's would not endanger the global economic system in the way unprovoked attacks on the economy of another country have done.

 The already rich and wanting to be much richer would wish to increase GST which hurts the POOR the Most and creates Heaps of Paperwork. Conservatives wish to increase it. Maybe we end up like the UK, A dead hand on everything at the rate they have. IF I was da King I would abolish it. Tax should be imposed on those who can afford to Pay it, Firstly.  Nev

Yes, he did. The difference is he took it to an election when he changed his mind. Huge difference! Maybe we could mention "there won't be a carbon tax in a government I lead."

Haven't we gown up enough to have learned that promises made by politicians are hot air at best? Perhaps the running of teh country should be tuned over to the Public Service and politicians can continue to have their debating societies in the houses of parliament. Even used car salespersons are trusted more than politicians.

The TOPIC is ME conflict and the debates in the Parliament are recorded. Public Service is Not elected. The most Important things for a Functioning Democracy (a)  A free and fair Election Process. Checks and rules applying to any Money  donated or spent, A GOOD honest Press which is Not a fully incorporated arm of the Liberal Part and NOW PHON  Otherwise why not Cut out the Middlemen/women) and let Gina and Merdey run the Country directly,  Nats have been all about Fracking and mining Not Farms etc as they once were. Follow the Money trail  That will find out who calls the shots. Nev

I think that you have identified the problem. The electors have been shown so many examples of corruption in its many forms that they see all politicians are corrupt. Not being corrupt themselves, the electors have no faith in whatever politicians say.

Money should be taken out of politics entirely.

Yes there still should be free and fair elections, but I think the application of a few public service rules would do wonders for the political class.

No ability to accept any gift, donation or service of any value, for a start. And integrity checks. 

The ability of interest groups to lobby politicians erodes democracy.

Everyone knows gambling advertising should be banned completely. It's a no-brainer. So why isn't it happening?

Should that apply to the Party or the candidate? Politcal Parties do not have many members compared to the whole population, so membership fees cannot fund the advertising needed to conduct a campaign. Sad truth, but a truth nonetheless. Should there be a cap on the amount a donor can give? Probably the best solution. Does promotion via the various media types count as a donation? Getting into freedom of speech there.

Because the bookies pay tax as well. You won't kill off gambling.
