Watching tonight's episode of The Daily Show. They were discussing Trump's health problems and showed a photo of his shoe and ankles. The compere, Josh Johnson, said "Shoes are not supposed to give you muffin tops."

They went on to show how Trump has his back against the wall with the Epstein files fiasco and the distractions he is throwing up. First the video of Obama getting arrested in the Oval Office, then in a cell in prison garb. Next he's onto the Martin Luther King Jnr files.

Trump's Supreme Court lackeys, at Trump's insistence, killed any chance of even opening an investigation into Obama's alleged treasonous actions when they handed down the decision that a President cannot be prosecuted for anything done in the course of carrying out the role of President.

Like this presenter or not, he gives a clear explanation of what that Supreme Court decision means to this latest Trumpian distraction. To avoid the imbedded sponsor advertisement, jump ahead to time stamp 3:13 for the start of the explanation.

What Trump has done is greatly increased the cost of manufacturing EV batteries, or perhaps the cost of those batteries made in China which are fitted to EVs. As a result, the value of TESLA shares has dropped by 0.35% yesterday. Doesn't sound much, but that represents a $US5.85 per share drop in value over the day's trading. Considering that as of July 2025, Tesla has 3.22 billion shares, that's a lot of value lost.

It's not going to be "rough quarters" ahead for Tesla, the Chinese are going to rip a new and much larger cloaca for Tesla, with their massive range of technically superior EV's - that are available in HUGE numbers. Within 6-8 years, Tesla will be an "also-ran" in the EV stakes.

I can see parallels in the dockside crane industry. As a typical example, Esperance (W.A.) Port, about 10 years ago, wanted a number of new wharf cranes. They got a quote from established Western wharf crane manufacturers, and the quoted prices made the port operators eyes water, and they had to sit down - Oh, and there was only a 2 yr warranty at best from these suppliers.

So the Esperance Port asked the Chinese to tender for the cranes. The Chinese cranes came in at under half the price of the other quotes - AND their price included DELIVERY to Esperance Port, with their dedicated crane-carrying ship.

The Chinese ship has a flat deck, they sit the cranes on the ships deck, and when they get to the Port, they ballast the ship to the level of the wharf, and simply drive the cranes off, and they can put them straight to work.

So then came the Esperance Port operators question. Do the Chinese cranes come with any kind of warranty? "Oh, certainly", says the Chinese. "We give TWENTY YEARS warranty on all our wharf cranes!!

Is it any wonder that virtually every port now, runs Chinese wharf cranes? Musk is on a hiding to nothing, the Chinese play the long game, and they play hard ball.

A Federal Court has just ruled that Trump's action in imposing tariffs is unconstututional and that the tariffs so imposed must be immediately removed.

This is a bit of a longish video, but explains the Court's judgement pretty succinctly.

HE won't be pleased.

I expect to hear more calls to subpoena/jail/sack/impeach a few rogue (disobedient but ethical) judges.

This was a ruling back in May: https://tax.thomsonreuters.com/blog/u-s-court-of-international-trade-rules-certain-emergency-tariffs-illegal-what-businesses-need-to-know/

Here is an article in June where a federal appeals court granted an injunction on the tarrifs: https://www.dentons.com/en/insights/newsletters/2025/june/2/trump-2-0-navigating-change-in-canada/appeals-court-halts-united-states

There is nothing on the CNN website front page or recent US stories that I can find that talks about it.. Doing a search on the court of international trade on CNN gives this page: https://edition.cnn.com/search?q=court+of+international+trade&from=0&size=10&page=1&sort=newest&types=all&section=, whin at the time of the search goes back to July 16 on the first page, and there is no news of this on there, either.

A Youtuber looks to have put up some old news to get clicks.

There is something pathetic about Trump in that he always needs to be the hero.  There is no self-deprecation.   I did not much care for President Bush, but at least he could make jokes at his own expense. Has anyone ever heard Trump admit to performance less than perfect? No reasonable person would expect an amateur golfer to be as good as a pro. He believes he is demonstrating strength, but most of us (other than his sycophant fans) see weakness. A real man would say, "I fucked that up" and not feel diminished.

With all that practice, he ought to be faily good. But he must be a bit unco to have to get his caddy to cheat for him.
