Jerry_Atrick Posted July 28 Posted July 28 We have had a similar system implemented in the UK for a few years now (can't even remember how long). I recall an alarm going off on my phone I don't recall too much fanfare in the lead up to it to be honest. I found it quite amusing how the press were making a big deal about in in Australia... There were some issuing health warnings about it, Of course,, I didn't get it while back here, but I guess it was a not much in the press period.
red750 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I was at the Men's Shed and 5 or 6 phones all went off at the same time. Different alarm sounds. 1
facthunter Posted July 28 Posted July 28 No one I know Mentioned it. Men's shed tomorrow. I'll ask there. They did something like this over 20 years ago. I was randomly selected to be on the group in the MT Macedon area that formulated various aspects of it. The idea has Merit.. I support the idea of doing such things. It's acting responsibly. pmccarthy Posted July 29 Posted July 29 How many songs do you know? I think I know thousand of tunes and lyrics. Not as a performer, just to sing along with the radio. For example, I must know half of the top fifty between 1950 and 1980. That is 40 years of 25 songs, 1000 just there.
rgmwa Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I know a lot of tunes when I hear them but can only ever remember the odd lyric here and there. I’m always amazed how some people can remember every word of dozens or hundreds of songs.
facthunter Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Think how much other Knowledge that Clutter could be displacing.. Nev
old man emu Posted July 30 Posted July 30 With the excise coming off fuel on Sunday, I topped up my tank this morning. The price was already 10 cents higher than on last Monday. As I was pumping fuel, I watched the price counter change. If the price of fuel keeps going up, the figures in that price counter will be a blur.
red750 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Things keep moving faster and faster. I got a call this afternoon saying the tentative date for my cochlear implant surgery is Sept 19. 1
facthunter Posted July 30 Posted July 30 What is happening in the ME will give a real Impetus to EV sales. People don't want to be hung out to dry every time someone does silly things with supply.. Nev 3
Marty_d Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Yep. Glad we've got ours. Nice to drive too, although sometimes tries to be a bit smart for its own good. 1

old man emu Posted July 31 Posted July 31 When you are pushing a lawn mower around, there's not much need to be givingh all your attention to the task, so your mind can wander off to strange topics which raise interesting, but not often considered, questions. 1. If the oveernight temperatur gets to 0C or less and ice forms on things, why doesn't the freeze kill plants that grow in the winter? 2. If The Romans were in control of Judea at the time of Christ, and Roman currency was the currency of the Empire, why did they need money changers at the temple in Jerusalum?
facthunter Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Water freezes at Zero C but other things in the sap raise the freezing Point, like antifreeze. Christ said "You have Made my Temple a den of thieves. They were using some form of tokens. ( Early Bitcoin? ) Cluneys-Ross used his own form of money to Pay the Copra workers on Cocos Islands. It was worth nothing anywhere else.. Nev
willedoo Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I was going through some files and came across this photo from when I was converting my shed from 36 sq.m to 85 sq.m.. Checked the exif data and it was taken eighteen years ago. How times change. What really stands out is how decrepit the body is now and how I'd have no hope of building that these days. I can barely lift my old jackhammer, let alone use it.
