onetrack
South Australia will only be allowed to build the hull. Everything else - especially the nuclear reactors and the electronics and weapons systems - will be built in the U.S., and the South Australians will simply bolt it all in. The Americans are not about to allow some bunch of hicks down in Kangarooland access to their high-tech systems design, or manufacturing secrets. We can't be trusted with any of it - any good Yank worth his salt knows Australia is run by Left-wing pinko Govts, and Commie unions.

Normally they are more resistive to US ownership over Aus https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-11-30/warning-aukus-legislation-cedes-australian-sovereignty/103168408 1
