  1. We finally gave up looking for our wok this week and my wife bought a new one. Within an hour I had found it in the camping gear while looking for a something else.
  2. Apparently a magnitude 5.3 in Gippsland, at 9.21 am today 22/9/21. Our house in central Vic shook and others had things fall off shelves. It was felt as far up as Albury.
  3. Xi has said he will take Taiwan before 2050, by force if necessary. Remember Hitler and the Sudetenland and subsequent? There are many parallels between China today and Germany in the 1930s. We should not dismiss them.
  4. In PNG a sausage is a bullamacow banana.
  5. China is full of crisis and protests today. Floods, education, real estate, entertainment. The regime is on increasingly shaky ground and needs a war to divert attention.
  6. A popular new TV series will allow young people to understand this. Christine Keeler's a b….. nice sheila But Mandy's just as nice for half the price.
  7. Why do hoses and extension leads always tangle? Why does a dropped nut always bounce under the car or bench?
  8. Ah, the cut and thrust of a good debate….
  9. Scomo says he tried to call the French President. What nonsense! They had been planning this for many months, of course he could have set up a call.
  10. In Sweden in the 1980s I saw diesel 504s used as service vehicles in an underground mine.
  11. And all those women in sleeveless outfits demanding their right to bare arms.
  12. This is the greatest news on Aussie defence for a decade. Our own nuke subs. And the French can bugger off.
  13. We have trained our dog to throw up on a different patch of carpet every time. Eventually the carpet will look uniformly brown.
  14. Today’s Age had an article about rising sea levels in Kiribati. The photo was a stock flood picture from 2015. The focus of the story was on climate change. A bit of background research showed the crisis was in 2015 and the problem is subsiding ground, not rising sea. But they never let facts get in the way of an alarmist story
  15. I got the Salk vaccine in 1956, but remember later having something that was a red colour on a very small white plastic spoon.
  16. Does anyone remember whether the triple antigen shots were compulsory? If my parents had objected, would I still have been forced to be vaccinated? And what about the original polio shots, which I remember were quite painful? I hid under the veranda but they found me and dragged me to the vaccination centre.
  17. It is strange that there are more glossy specialist magazines than ever, on every topic you care to pursue. Why are they not redundant now we have on line material?
  18. I have been flying GA and RA for many years and the thought of flying a turbo prop scares the pants off me. I would not dream of trying.
  19. When I was young they got the paper boys to do the folding.
  20. Where I live (Central Victoria) you must carry a phone to use the Covid App. I didnt used to carry a phone but I have been forced to. Many businesses (including my barber) do not allow signing in on paper. That is because (I asked him) he can only have one customer in the shop with paper sign in but three with the app. So many shops just have a sign saying no app, no entry.
  21. We have speakers with Google and Alexa on them for music. I have no doubt they are listening, because we often get related advertising on Facebook within an hour or so of discussing something. Doesn't really bother us, but it amuses us.
  22. I hope they wipe down the seat before renting it to the next customer.
