My wife nearly died on a train trip from London to Maidenhead years ago, busting for a loo. I didn't know, she didn't say. After we got off she ran for the loo. When she got back, I said there was one on the train, right behind you.

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

We have recently wasted two evenings that we will never get back watching movies produced by Netflix. Both were end of the world type stories. They set up a scenario that is interesting, then the rest of the movie is Americans running around like headless chooks. We never get to find out what happens, the movie ends abruptly just when everything is about to be revealed. No more Netflix for me.

I have not hit one for twenty years although I drive on roo infested roads every day. My tactics are to always drive in the centre of the road, to limit speed to 80 at roo times morning and evening, and to know where the roo crossings are in our area. Of course, I have been lucky too.

More importantly, where did three or four years go out of our lives? When I try to remember when something happened, or how old I am, I keep getting it wrong by that amount. I can own up to being 70, but not a few years older. And events from around 2015 seem much more recent. Perhaps it is the blank time during the covid crisis.
