  1. In Scotland they still sell and use coal. The coal sellers have banner signs beside the road advertising it, I know at least one pub near Lithgow in NSW that uses a coal fire, I don’t know where they get it. There is no smell inside, almost no smoke, but a wonderful smell outside that takes me back to the days of steam trains.
  2. I ran a consulting business for many years and we always had full working from home. Employees (up to 250 of them) were billing clients by the hour and I didn’t care where they worked from. They were assessed on their billings and client satisfaction. The system worked well and still does, the business has been going for 40 years now. Here's a link if you are interested https://www.amcconsultants.com/
  3. Keeping warm and snug with a lovely coal fire this morning.
  4. Like Albo at Christmas, when the angels said no L.
  5. I enjoyed the museum, best item was Eric Brown's helmet!
  6. Instead of an urn you can end up in a croc.
  7. I have not, but have seen videos. I would love to spend a day there. I spent a couple of hours at Yeovilton two weeks ago watching big choppers come and go.
  8. If it is an LSA then any repairs that need parts may be a problem, Fly Synthesis no longer exists.
  9. I have been enjoying low level passes by jet fighters and big multi engined aircraft over the lakes in the Lake District. The RAF publishes a schedule but it said there was nothing for recent days. A bit more googling and I found these are all US aircraft which use the area for low level training.
  10. That sounds about right when looking at the image.
  11. It is just the sizes that have been corrected. Of course the image of each region is no longer the proportionate distance from its neighbours. The main message for me is that Russia is not all that big compared to Australia.
  12. I watched the movie The Conclave on a plane two weeks ago. Highly recommended, an imaginative story about what happens behind the scene when the pope dies.
  13. We just bought some tubes of Anthisan cream here in the UK for friends. Apparently they can no longer be sold legally in Australia, I don’t know why. It is antihistamine for stings etc,
  14. The policeman on the desk asked “does that restore your faith in human nature?” I said I hadn't really lost it. He said “ I lost it years ago!”
  15. A big positive for me. I lost my wallet in a park yesterday in the English Midlands and today I got it back with licence, credit cards and about $400 equivalent in cash. The girl who handed it in at the police station did not leave her name.
  16. The minister at our church was always saying to use lettuce spray, but I haven’t tried it myself.

    Brain Teaser

Why does it need a peephole?
  18. I was told in Oxford today that London is not really a part of England, it is full of foreigners. People just ignore it and get on with their lives.
  19. How long is it WITH your hearing aid?
  20. This popular bronze is also losing its patina.
  21. I think the bronze is fine, it is the patina that has rubbed off. And maybe the novelty.
  22. Those mobility scooters need maintenance.
  23. I would never claim it was bigger than I thought it was.
