nomadpete Posted Saturday at 09:29 PM Posted Saturday at 09:29 PM Below I borrowed from another forum. It quotes a survey by MyGov/The Economist. What I think it really shows is political fallout from a decaying culture in US. "Who are the Trump voters uneasy with the politics of punishment? Our analysis says they are more likely to be women and older voters, as well as those with higher levels of education and those who say they attend church regularly. Respondents who pay less attention to day-to-day politics are also more likely to recoil."

onetrack Posted yesterday at 07:54 AM Posted yesterday at 07:54 AM In another kick in the nuts for Trumps almighty dollar, BHP Billiton has struck a groundbreaking agreement with Chinese buyers to settle 30% of its iron ore spot trading in Chinese yuan (RMB), instead of US dollars. This is the Chinese responding to Trumps anti-China and tariff stance - it will weaken the amount of global trading in US Dollars, and has projected the yuan onto the global trading currency stage. It's not something that can be taken lightly. Since the end of WW2, the American dollar has ruled as the currency that has dominated global trading. Not so much now - the Chinese now want to see the yuan on that global stage, and its use in transactions effectively ending the US Dollar stranglehold on international trading. https://discoveryalert.com.au/news/currency-shift-global-iron-ore-markets-2025/ 1
ClintonB Posted yesterday at 08:18 AM Posted yesterday at 08:18 AM I wonder how long before we see trump golf courses in Gaza and hotels by the sea. Nothing that clown does is for the greater good, all for his interests only. 1

rgmwa Posted yesterday at 09:13 AM Posted yesterday at 09:13 AM Netanyahu’s biggest mistake was bombing Qatar and not telling Trump what he was going to do. Trump Inc and Kushner have lots of business interests there and they gave him a 747 as a present as well. That made the attack personal for Trump and is probably the main reason the bombing has stopped, at least for now. The Gazans can in large part thank Trump’s thin skin and nose for grift for the current progress in that region. Still, it’s the results that count more than the motives in this case. 1 1

Netanyahu owes Trumpy & USA for the weapons used, and Netanyahu has achieved his primary goal, so he can let USA have some credit. Besides, he has pretty much destroyed Gaza. Made much of it unlivable, and displaced million (?) of Palastinians. And he expects to control the land anyway. The way I see it.... job done! (From Bibi's perspective) Oh and also, we haven't heard exactly where the new Trump Tower and beachside golf course is going to be built. Edited yesterday at 08:06 PM by nomadpete sarcasm added 1

onetrack Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago It's not only too coherent, it lacks the 150 words in capitals, that are normally a big part of Trumps tweets. 1

nomadpete Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Well the gun fondlers all seem to get excited about having freedom to get revenge. Revenge has become a normalised part of their capitalism. And, yes, when I first read that tweet it was clear that DJ must have got himself a new tweet writer. Not his usual ranting style. 1

(From Bibi's perspective) Oh and also, we haven't heard exactly where the new Trump Tower and beachside golf course is going to be built. Netanyahu has had Trump's support for months and was pretty determined to continue his attacks on Gaza until Trump finally decided Bibi had overstepped the mark, made him apologise to Qatar and with the help of the Arab nations, got him to negotiate with Hamas again. Trump certainly gets credit for that but he could have done it months ago and saved a lot of lives. Obviously getting the hostages back, stopping the bombing and getting aid in again is a big deal, but as long as Hamas exists I don't think Bibi sees it as job done. It's also in his domestic interests to keep the war going, but he's now been forced to pull back and claim victory. Once the Israeli's pull out, if they ever do, there will be infighting between Hamas, who have already said they won't disarm, and other tribal and political groups for control of the area. The hostage release is a good start, but we're still a long way from a stable region, beachside holiday resorts and the Trump Desert Sands Memorial Golf Course. 2
kgwilson Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) Trump has been in the war since he took office. Israel wouldn't have any chance of defeating anyone without support from the US and the supply of munitions and equipment. They haven't been able to get rid of Hamas after 2 years of bombing and destruction of most of Gaza and the loss of some 67,000 and counting Palestinian lives while all the while illegally taking over the West bank and getting rid of as many Palestinians as possible there. I used to support Israel especially after the atrocities of the Nazis, the 6 day war and other events, but the hard line right wing factions in Netanyahu's government have gone well beyond the pale. The latest cease fire is highly likely to fail as well. Trump will of course claim victory no matter what happens. This is supposed to be the first peace in 3000 years according to his complete lack of knowledge about anything real. Edited 13 hours ago by kgwilson 1 3
