We're in the middle of a serious Winter-level cold front right now! 

We've just had nearly a week of snow on the Stirling Ranges, haven't seen that for a decade or two! The snow was down to 500 metres, too!

Yes, I’m parked in the car watching my daughter’s footy team splashing around in the mud and rain and getting beaten for their efforts. Make the most of the good weather, Marty.

Twas a nice day for flying or riding..... for folk who have a quality anorak. The day started at +2 degrees, the grass was white and crunchy underfoot but it 'warmed' right up to double digits!

 

Better down here than the mainland - my brother-in-law is trapped in a supermarket carpark @ Armidale - snowed in. No vacancies in town. The New England Hwy is closed by snow/ice.

With climate change, there are more great VFR days here, but they are still few and far between...

Depends if you don't worry about fires. Little trees become BIG trees. A well over 2 foot base tree blew over a few days ago. Takes a lot of work to clear that up (and fix things they fall on). Nev

What the hell is going on? Lovely day in Melbourne yesterday, another one today. Forecast top temp of 18, bright sunshine. Meanwhile, snow and floods on the NSW Central Coast, roofs blown off buildings.

Here on the Left Coast, we are enduring a weekend of of heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, wind and generally Winter weather. 36mm of rain since it started raining early yesterday (Sat.) morning, it's now 10:00AM on a dreary Sunday. The power has flickered a few times, but it hasn't gone off yet. It's actually pretty rare that we have power outages, maybe once a year.

 

At least we haven't got the foot of snow that the Northern Tablelands of NSW are enduring. The season here is now making up for the long dry spell over Summer.

Come up here to the Hills and you’ll have a lot more. Five days without power earlier this year.

Nev, you are such a worry wort. everyone does their own risk assessment

 Do they really? Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. People build houses where It has ALWAYS flooded and then act surprised that they can't insure. Nev

Our sanctuary is not without risk. 

 

The last one that fell over over is a metre across at the base. I borrowed a splitter and have gifted a couple of tonnes of firewood to friends & neighbours. 

All good. Manage the risk.

 

Better than livin in the concrete jungle (city) & hoping for the government to look after us.

Yeah Cities are something else, but they Provide convenient access to necessary Facilities you can't get or even expect in remote areas. We expect a government to do EVERYTHING for US and have developed whingeing into an art form. The MORE we get the More we want. Impossible to Please.  You don't know when you are well Off and end up with a lot of $#!t you don't really need.   Some of the best things in life are still free. You don't have to OWN everything to enjoy it. Nev
