red750 Posted Tuesday at 08:08 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:08 AM Why are there so many people with mental disorders walking our streets attacking people.
facthunter Posted Tuesday at 08:46 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:46 AM Stressed out society, Fear and Hate in the Media. Disinformation rife, lack of trust. Nev 2 1
onetrack Posted Tuesday at 09:58 AM Posted Tuesday at 09:58 AM Because the jails are overflowing with people who have committed dreadful crimes under the influence of drugs, and the judiciary is loathe to jail anyone who hasn't committed a serious crime - yet. But they let these drug-addled, anti-social misfits out on the street, saying the Parole Board and Social Support systems will keep them under control and supervised - when we all know, that just doesn't happen. 1
Marty_d Posted Tuesday at 11:21 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:21 AM Well, you can either have them on the street, or you can properly fund a health system that has enough mental health professionals and rebates that people can afford to see them regularly and still eat. 2 2
Litespeed Posted Tuesday at 12:33 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:33 PM Keep in mind 2/3 of prison population have a mental illness and most of those have never had proper treatment prior to jail. Our mental health system is a afterthought to politicians and doesn't make great headlines. But getter tougher on law and order gets cheers from the right wing media. It's a race to the bottom, how poorly we treat those in society that need help. It's a race to the top of the pile for the rich and self entitled. 2 1

My autism I was born with, a lifelong affliction, wasn't detected during the mandatory medical check, there was simply no check for it, so I suffered abuse from NCOs and Officers for the whole two years of conscription. They could tell something was wrong with me, but they still kept the abuse going. They were animals, with no respect for human life, much like the cops and politicians are today. Mental health is a non issue, except when they're trying to convince the public that an offender is not a terrorist, but has mental health issues instead. 3 1
facthunter Posted yesterday at 05:18 AM Posted yesterday at 05:18 AM If you are different, there's often NASTY people who will PICK on you. Recall how Julia Gillard was treated. Nev
Grumpy Old Nasho Posted yesterday at 05:51 AM Posted yesterday at 05:51 AM (edited) You can't make that comparison Nev, because Parliament is designed to treat each other like shyte. Edited yesterday at 05:51 AM by Grumpy Old Nasho

facthunter Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago The Speaker sends the Miscreants out under 97a. QT is televised and many contrived matters get free airtime which is exploited and choriographed. IF you want to KNOW what Matters will be "Used" read any Murdoch Paper. They know before it happens. Nev
old man emu Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Question Time has always been a "reality TV show". It is an opportunity for whichever Party is in Opposition to make it look like they are "keeping the bastards honest". It is also an opportunity for the Government back benchers to ask Ministers "Dorothy Dix" questions so that Moinisters can heap praise on the actions of teh Government. Watching it reminds me of unversity debating club meetings. We only ever hear of the contentious Bills being argued over during normal House business times. It would be interesting to find out how many Bills, or amendments to Bills are passed if the Buill or amendments are not controversial.

Popular Post nomadpete Posted 10 hours ago Popular Post Posted 10 hours ago (edited) I'd rather live in a country that serves the needs of the majority (even if I'm not one of them) than live under a system that only serves the dictator/king/president. That seems to be the only options available. You can please some of the people all of the time, or all of the people some of the time. Nobody can please all of the people all of the time.
