  1. A day is not wasted if you learn something new. I had to google him and listen to the song, too. Fun song with some good lines. Nevertheless nothing will make silicone body modifications attractive to me.
  2. So, Nev, who do you suggest Jerry should pay this bonus to?
  3. Project management...... The 'IF THEN' cycle is what makes timelines retreat into the future (and costs blow out)
  4. You have got your work cut out. I shudder to think how long your TO DO list is....
  5. Is it just me, but (apart from the occasional thresd hijack), the Trump thread and the Putin thread seem to be converging? Those two names get very similar comments.
  6. The oportunists are only there to diversify the gene pool
  7. And there were no cities full of humans around due to numerous natural events and extremes. In my lifetime, I am seeing the global environment (and chimate) changing faster than humans and a host of other species can adapt. I cannot ignore the massive changes brought about by humanity. ALL forms of pollution have resulted in a catastrophic sudden change. Not only CO2. Plastics and Glyphosphate are only two pollutants that are affecting pretty much all creatures. I will be long dead before the game plays out but I think we should be doing everything possible to wind back our bad policies.
  8. I notice that each year I see less and less older folk around. Is this the Thin End of the Wedge?
  9. In any casw it is a generalisation created by a noisy minority (a long time ago), and cannot be used to denigrate any specific person.
  10. I think that means the doc did a good job. The steroid has to go into the right spot for it to work. I had a steroid shot into my hand - when doc warned me 'this will hurt' I was sceptical. But lucky for me she got a nurse to hold my hand down to the table otherwise I would have involuntarily flinched and ruined her aim. It stopped hurting after a couple of weeks.
  11. Smart to focus on moving the action away from the ground front as much as possible. It is their only hope.
  12. Pity about that My present driveway is 10 - 15 degrees. My previous driveway was 15 - 22 degrees. No contractor was interested - said that it was too dangerous to work machinery on it and compaction would be impossible. So I bought a Bobcat and did it myself. Then sprayed coal tar emulsion surface to stop it washing away when it rained. This was on the escarpment north of Twba. The view was worth it.
  13. I have heard that butt enhancement surgery is popular. Possibly the one disfigurement on the planet that is as misguided as tatts
  14. Always ask. And if you are on something for a long time, ask again. Especially ask "are there any interactions with my other medications?" A regular review sometimes results in fine tuning the prescriptions.
  15. I booked a slipway for 4 days to do routine antifoul on my boat. Summer should be nice an warm, right? Day one came around - cool, windy and drizzle. But I managed to pressure wash a lot of gunk. Day two was 13 degrees, showers and gusting 30 kts. I didn’t get much done before going home for a hot shower. Day 3 and it got cold, rainy and gusting 40kts. It would blow the paintbrush out of your hand. Too wet to paint anyway. I managed to negotiate a extra day. Day 4 and the weather's improved. At last the hull is dry. Rain stopped and wind dropped. So did the temp. Temp might momentarily go right up to 13. But the fine print on the paint tin says 'only apply at 16 - 30 degrees Celsius'. Gripe - winds are always perverse.
  16. And that is why they are an endangered species. They can't breed as fast as they get eaten
  17. Which is why I prefer not to click on any of his youtube vids.
  18. I can't bear to listen to 'ole woolly's voice again. Just tell me the guts of it. Should only take two sentences.
  19. We all would be. As long as I can still get myself a nice bottle of red whenever I want.
  20. The law can be an ass, and justice is a commodity
  21. Well last time I was at a weighbridge, I weighed the vehicle on 'what it sits on'. And it sat on it's tyres. And the number is called the GVM.
  22. We are agonising unnecessarily over semantics. Obviously the wheels are part of the vehicle weight. Equally obviously, the weight of the wheel adds to the weight on the road. The terminology developed around 'axle loading' is often a simplified description that bureaucrats used in an effort to quantify road damage and the engineering requirements to design bridges, etc, to safely support vehicles . Perhaps other terms would be more accurate. But really, we all seem to know what we are talking about.
  23. The man may have stepped down, but the mechanisms will remain for decades.
