  1. It took the conservatives two months to find a replacement for Bojo. It has taken 6 weeks to show their choice was incompetent. How long to find another replacement. What it really shows is that the Conservatives are not fit to run the country. My recollection of British politics is that the majority of British people think they are a cut above the rest and they adore the establishment. They do not like new money, by which I mean the adore the old families that inherited money and look down on those who made their money by working or maybe sharp practice. They love those people who have been around for years and have titles, or become entitled to be looked up to, y buying the manor house and they are usually new money. The adore those who have officer rank from their short time in the army. In short they don't look for competence in their leaders, but going to the right school or having a knighthood are great. My wife is distantly related to a British lord. I thought the knighthood was supposed to die out with the previous holder of the title, but there is now a Third lord, plus his sister was put into the lords by PM Cameron. That was just after Talk Talk had a massive security leak, similar to the recent Optus leak. It was said of her that she was absolutely ignorant about what was going on. She is now Baroness Harding of somewhere or other. Called Dido, but her name is Dianna. Dildo would be more appropriate.
  2. Bikes are no good in mud, my experience is that the mudguards get clogged up and steering becomes impossible because the wheel is dragging. The best for outback is an old style 4WD, with not wide tyres and no fancy electronics.

    CHINA

China is only a threat because of USA. USA makes it a threat because it is in fear of losing its boss of the world position. China threatens it because of its trading power and the USA only knows one way of getting what it wants. That is to declare the percieved enemy as a world wide threat. I reckon China wants to dominate trade to its own advantage and is willing to push or pull others into alignment with it, preferably by trade and monetary methods. I can't see China wanting to go to war, it would just cost too much.

    Is this funny

I am wondering if this news item was something that was not supposed to be released until April 1st.
  5. Isn't that what happens in Aus. The harvest it starting in Central Qld . now and the machinery will work its way down to Victoria by about Christmas time.

    Is this funny

I copied this from The news today. I don't know what the Worldwide Speakers Group is but it would appear that it is a comedy group, or maybe a corrupt group trying to spread its word. What do you think? .Former prime minister Scott Morrison has been advertised as the “true definition of a leader” as he attempts to build a side-gig as a globetrotting speaker. The Worldwide Speakers Group has announced that Mr Morrison, Australia’s 30th prime minister, will “exclusively” represent the group on international speaking engagements. The election-losing prime minister is lauded as “a virtuous globalisation mastermind” and “the true definition of a leader with a 360-degree world view” on the WWSG’s website. He is hailed for “aggressively working toward a net zero global emissions economy”. “During his tenure, Morrison was tasked with several difficulties that required unique and innovative solutions,” states the bio on the WWSG website. “From managing the public safety of Australians during the pandemic to mitigating an economic crisis, controlling natural disasters, and leading the country while others were at war—Prime Minister Morrison led Australia with his particular brand of calm decisiveness and rationale. “A globalisation mastermind, Morrison lends his boundless influence and experience to audiences around the world.” Former prime minister Scott Morrison has been advertised as the “true definition of a leader” as he attempts to build a side-gig as a globetrotting speaker. Do they really think people will believe the crap.
  7. While you float away, engine swamped by water you may be safe, but how do you open the doors with all that water pressure on them and when it gets up to the windows, you find that you can't open the doors and you can't open the windows, because the electrics have all died. That is what kills people.
  8. And we in Central Qld are wanting rain, We had about 3.5mm this morning which was good. Everywhere looked green up to a few days ago, but it has only been grass rain. We have not had significant rain for a long while. Lets hope for a wet season this year.
  9. If there had been much cross flow of the water you would have been swept sideways. Once the bodywork gets into the water the pressure will overcome the friction of the tyres. That is why a 4WD is so much better, just because of the increased ground clearance.
  10. A far cry from my days harvesting in England. First a man went round the perimeter of the field with a scythe and somebody collected and tied the grain into sheaves, then the binder came in and was towed round by horses or a tractor. That resulted in many sheaves tied with binder twine which we had to stook, that is stand in groups, two wide by 6 or more long to allow the grain to safely dry before we pitched it onto trailers with a pitch fork, then onto a stack where it would wait till winter and the threshing machine pulled by a steam traction engine would set up and thresh the grain out and also bale the straw with wire. Happy days, but I doubt many would want to do that now.
  11. Looking at his ten commandments he is obviously not wise, but very unsure of himself.
  12. From what I see the effective range of any ammo doesn't really come intoconsideration. Most rounds are shot off without any aiming and are intended to make the enemy keep his head down or look mgood on the TV screen. Should we be intending to use a round that will kill if it hits, or as I would prefer a round that injures and therefore ties up two or three other enemy personnel looking after the injured.
  13. I see that cricket Australia is thinking of promoting David Warner to captain, something they cannot do without changing the rules because of his ban on leadership following the ball tampering fiasco. This is just another example of the corruption in this world. There is no doubting David is a good player, but he and Clarke both demonstrated their lack of integrity with the ball tampering. Just forget how people behave and reward them for their corruption. Next thing he will be standing for parliament for the LCP.
  14. I read the log of one of the early discoverers of Australia. Somewhere in the Torres Straight, they crept ashore from their boat and raised the flag, claiming that island for the British. The reason for the night trip was that it was too dangerous to land in daylight.
  15. Don't worry it will soon be over. Marles the minister responsible in Australia for defence is contemplating sending Aussie soldiers to advise the Ukranian fighters. That worries me on two fronts we sent advisers to Viet Nam and look where that ended up. Politicians should get out of warmaking. Secondly how are we going to advise the Ukranian fighters. We don't have a record of fighting their kind of war, in fact we don't have a record of fighting any kind of war successfully. I am not trying to denigrate our military, who I think do a terrific job, but they have their hands tied behind their backs by politicians. Also our military seems to be unable to provide equipment for our fighters. Would our advisers to Ukraine suggest they should use nuclear submarines with conventional weapons, or maybe warships that do net even meet civilian safety standards. The Ukranians seem to be doing a good job, but there are not enough of them and they are fighting a war we are not equipped to fight and have no experience of. For our politician Marles to suggest becoming advisers is pure bullcrap and goes to show how our petty Pollies really see themselves. Trouble is it is not a mirror that they are looking in but just a distorted image. If we really wanted to help the Ukranians we should be fighting alongside them, not big noting ourselves, but we are too scared to do that.
  16. I came here as a five pound pom, that is because we brought two little kids with us for free. Best Twenty pounds I ever spent and I never thought that one day I would be rich enough to have a return visit to Pommie land. I was never denigrated as a pom because I could give back just as much as the Aussies gave out. My pet refrain was that at least I made a decision to come here whereas the denigrator was only here because that is where his mother was when he was born. I was out of the hostel in 6 weeks, working at what I wanted on the land, some Poms were in the hostel for over the allowed two years. The worst Poms I experienced were in Whyalla. The steelworks brought them out, housed them and sold them all their furniture and all they did was whinge. When we said get out go elsewhere for a job, they didn't have the guts to make a move for themselves. Before I came here a couple used to drink in my fathers pub and bemoaned the fact that they emigrated to Aus, didn't like it and went back, now all they wanted was to make the money to really emigrate to Australia. As far as i know they are still there and that is what they deserve.
  17. Voting numbers must be down in Vic. Here in central Qld we have a load of Victorians buying in. It s keeping our house prices up. Most places now seem to be wall to wall houses. I have been house seeking and so many are nearly touching. Instead of downsizing I am buying into a house of about the same size and just reducing the land area, but I couldn't live on the common 5 or 6 hundred square metres, where you hear your neighbour snooring.
  18. This all sounds as if Ukraine is winning the war and Putin will eventually fade away, but in my opinion that is not going to happen. Putin has proposed using nuclear and Biden has mouthed a few words but nothing serious. Remember Biden did not say USA would do anything if Putin attacked, back in Feb. Biden and the UN are useless and they will either fold under Putins pressure or let him use nuclear and continue wringing their hands and wailing Woe, Woe. It is time for someone to stand up and say, "If you use nuclear weapons, you will die", but where is that person. In 1939 Britain told Hitler that if he invaded Poland they would be at war. Hitler didn't take notice, because Britain and the rest of Europe had appeared weak before. Now it is the UN and USA that look weak. Not only look weak, but from their record they are weak.

    England is lost

Never been to Paris but I have been to the Dordogne area a couple of times and found the locals just as helpful as here, which is really helpful. I found if you couldn't speak the language you had to at least try to do so and all was good. If you just shout English louder you will be ignored and if you really make a mess of the language you will get a good laugh.
  20. Anyone would think Australia was unique because the locals were overrun by the white invaders. Look at just about anywhere in the world and you will see that this has happened. South Africa was over run by whites and blacks a few hundred years ago. Both the Americas were also overrun and Europe has been a moving mass for centuries. I thought I was English, but I descend from the Italians who moved to England, but not in big enough numbers to take over the country.

    Australia Post

So if you have a PO box you can no longer get a delivery to your street address? That sounds like Australia Post. I have a twenty litre oil drum as my post box and every now and then the postie tells me I have a parcel and have to go to town to collect it and it is small with no restraints on being left. Then the post master tells me he is short of space to store parcels at the post office.
  22. I have seen those Indian canals and they run from the foothills of the Himalaya for hundreds of km. shading them with solar panels would delay the warming of that ice melt water and therefore reduce evaporation loss. Here in Central Qld in summer the loss from my dam is more in daytime than at night. Maybe that is because we have more wind in the daytime and the night time wind is a cooler land breeze.
  23. Solar farms are placed close to existing transmission infrastructure to make it cheaper, plus nobody cares about the take over of good agricultural land. The pumping of water to produce electricity from a dam when sunlight fails would need solar farms near the pumping site, but I doubt that would happen as the bureaucrats would not like it.
  24. What is the difference between Putin and all the other Presidents in the World. He is very much like Trump and also Boris Johnson is not a president and never was, so they could get rid of him when he showed his real colours. Emil Macron is one president who is not like Putin but African and American presidents seem to lack honour and competence.
  25. Generals. They are the problem. Look back at history and you will se that generals made the mistakes to lose the war, rather than making the decisions to win it. Will the Russian generals make the right decisions? Maybe just to safeguard their nearest and dearest, that is they have any.
