That plan didn't work out very well for Wagner's boss.

The most interesting development is in Texas, where a sizeable number of Democrats left the State to avoid voting in a rigged Congressional electoral boundaries redistribution, that is going to greatly favour Republicans in the next Federal Govt voting round.

Now the Texas Governor and House speaker are trying to arrest or remove the Democrats who left the State and who failed to vote on the redistribution. This is a whole new ball game.

At first terrump two was worrying. Then it got crazy. Now its just getting ridiculous.

If it was the script for a B grade comedy, nobody would bother to watch it.

Why do we?

Because it's entrancing, watching a show unfold, and you don't know how all the twists and turns of the story are going to pan out??

We're all just hoping the baddie gets his comeuppance, the heroine gets saved, and the goodies come back in force, and take over the town, and restore civil order from lawlessness!!

I've got an answer.

I just rediscovered Rocky & Bullwinkle. (A Youtoob revisit to my childhood).

I realise that 60 years ago the children of America were sitting in front of TV devouring Rocky & Billwinkle cartoons.

And I realise that when viewed through the cynical lens of Rocky & Bullwinkle,  watching the present American  circus play out, no longer feels surprising.

That old cartoon series was teaching nine year olds of the day (now the voters who put an orange clown into the top seat) about cynical politics, human nature, and philosophy!

If you don't believe me, watch a couple of the clips.

A blue whales butthole can stretch to three and a half feet, which makes it the second biggest arsehole in the world next to Donald Trump.

Satan could've always asked him where he was going to get a lawyer, as he already has them all lined up.

Here's a very revealing article that points to many peoples concerns about how the US$ could be worth little more than dunny paper after Trump has finished his economic destruction.

We exported AU$2.95B worth of our gold to the U.S. in the whole of 2024. But such is the rush to gold in the U.S., we have exported AU$11B worth of our gold production to the U.S. - just in the first four months of 2025!

The level of gold sales to the U.S. ensured we actually ran a trade surplus with the country - for the first time since Harry Truman was President! If this trend continued, we wouldn't be able to provide enough gold to meet the U.S. demand!

However, it appears the rush to gold by Americans has eased for the moment and gold exports to the country have subsided a little. Regardless, the rest of the world appears to have the jitters about the US$ - and possibly paper currencies in general - because we exported nearly AU$47B worth of gold, to the rest of the world, in FY 2024/2025.

This is also a record, up 42% from 2023/2024, and nearly double the gold exports to the rest of the world in 2022/2023. Fortunately, Trump has stated he won't put a tariff on gold (probably hoping he'll get a big gold kickback from gold producers and dealers) - so in effect, none of his tariffs on Australian products are having a great deal of effect overall, because as he taxes one of our exports, another of our exports gains, with increased sales.

Trump RUNS on the Golden Rule. He who has the GOLD makes the RULES.  Generally the Price of gold rises when the Market looks risky. Trumps Erratic behaviour is not good for Investment ANYWHERE.  Nev

TACO has so many contradictions. Claims he is the great negotiator, but buckles to US big money.

He says he wants production of medicines in America and cheaper medicines for Americans, and to do that he has to hit other countries with outlandish tariffs. Australia, the UK, New Zealand, Canada and others got the cheaper medicines by negotiation with the manufacturers - lower your prices or no approval. He is so dependant on big pharma money to stay where he is, he's too gutless to do the same over there.

Meantimes, while Trump fiddles with his tariffs "deals", the Chinese are reaming America senseless with their total dominance of rare earth metals - that are needed for nearly every single major defence item, hi-tech aircraft engines, electronics, and even explosives. The Chinese know this, and fully enjoy squeezing the testicles of every U.S. manufacturer.

BREAKING: Donald Trump's fascism hits a shocking new level as a leak reveals that he's evaluating the creation of a “Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force” of hundreds of National Guard troops to crack down on American cities at a moment's notice.

We can hear the jackboots already and it gets so much worse...
According to The Washington Post which reviewed internal Pentagon documents, the new military force would be "tasked with rapidly deploying into American cities facing protests or other unrest."

As we have already seen from Trump's deployment of troops in Los Angeles and now Washington, D.C., there doesn't need to be actual unrest for him to act. He will lie, pretend that there's a crisis, and then send in soldiers so that he can look strong to his supporters and crack down on his political enemies.

The deeply authoritarian plan would place 600 troops on "standby at all tines" which would allow them to deploy in as quickly as one hour when given the order. There would be two groups of 300, stationed at military bases in Alabama and Arizona.

The estimated costs could reach hundreds of millions of dollars, burning through tax dollars to pay for keeping military aircraft and aircrews ready 24 hours a day.

The documents contain elements that have time stamps from as recent as late July and early August, indicating that the idea is still under active consideration. The earliest that they could be implemented is fiscal year 2027 if the program is created through the usual budgetary process, but given Trump's penchant for lawbreaking and disrespect for norms, it's possible that he may ultimately try to accomplish it through nontraditional means.

If we let this force be created, there will be no putting the genie back in the bottle. Trump will have a highly trained, heavily armed military force that he won't hesitate to deploy whenever he needs a distraction from his failed presidency. We'll be subjected to brutal authoritarianism to cover up stunning incompetence.
