1. Had a friend she got voted in when Howard won with an increase in Female Members. She had some good ideas but was promptly told to sit down and shut up and follow the party policy.
2. Yeah, the old Party Line, we were 2 short one long. For those that dont know what im talking about. Several properties on the one single line (party line). each property had its own signature ring controlled by turning the magneto handle. Many party lines would feed into a local exchange with an operator who could access the outside world for you.
3. There is an operators manual for each Dam. It advises what percentage opening on the gates at various levels. As the operator you follow the Manual to the letter otherwise YOU will be held personally responsible for loss of property or life as a consequence of deviating from the Manual. Remember the debarkle surrounding this subject with Wyvanhoe Dam during the Brisbane floods.
4. Townsville is/was a very dry city, many locals have water bores of which number there is no record. Ross River Dam was down to 15% in 2016. Several Water Bore Drilling Businesses advertise in the area. In contrast Tully, 175km up the road has the highest annual rainfall in Aus.
5. Many years ago when working in a Bank in Brisbane I was asked by our Melbourne Office to quickly jump in a car and resolve an issue with a client in Cairns.
6. I think a bit of Sage would also go well.

I thought a stool was something you sat on ............ oh ok lol, just worked it out. The meaning, not the stool.

11. The famous Twin Peaks
12. Interesting, the Countries that came to America's call to help fight in Vietnam were Aus, Thailand and Korea. All the European countries refused.
13. Could never happen, that is why God introduced Alcohol. I think there was another reason .....
14. Any Anniversary event that brings focus to the Sacrifices made by those that partook and their Families (our families) is good and to distract our generations from our pathetic concerns i.e. internet coverage etc. Of course 11/11/1918 was only a pause in a World War which went from 1914 - 1945.
15. Traveled ‘Upper Class’ in Myanmar this year for ANZAC day. 9hrs south from Yangon to Mawlamyine and the car to Thanbyuzat to Commonwealth War Graves western end of Thai-Burma Railway. The amenities in the Train were clean. Typical squatter but due to the very bumpy ride has a stainless bronco handle at the front to keep deposits in their place. The food service was good although I drew the line at dried crickets and dried fish. Next year Sandakan Borneo.
16. At what cost. endangering Australian lives overseas if some nutter wants to go to heaven. So the Coalition can survive another 6 months. FFS
17. Sweeny Todd a Victorian melodramatic tale an English barber and serial killer who murders his customers with a straight razor and, with the help of his accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, processes their corpses into meat pies. The Pies were sought after for their taste and the wellness people felt after eating them.
18. The Movie was "Soylent Green" staring Charlton Heston. early 70's. Was also a reference in the Simpsons, Bart buying Hommer a beer in the future for $200 and Homer salivating over some "soylent Green" for sale. Soylent Green - Wikipedia
19. Wedgies are magnificent Birds. Anywhere you have significant numbers of Lambing and Kids you will get a concentration of Foxes and wild dogs. They are the problem, Eagles will feed on afterbirth and carrion, its an easy meal. At other times they will take small animals like rabbits and even small dogs. Mate lost his mini foxie, Wedgie picked it up, flew off and dropped it from over a hundred feet to kill it then swooped down to take home lunch. I've seen Wedgies with Wing Spans wider than car tracks. Good show on Landline recently re Foxes, a weekend organised shoot accounted for over 700 foxes. 20. I recently had the opportunity to drive a new Tesla (rich friend). I jumped in, checked mirrors and then had the urge to "start" the car, no just push the pedal. Friend had proximity key in pocket. Acceleration and De-acceleration were amazing.
21. Brisbane is 200k further east of Sydney and 800k further east of Melbourne yet an hour behind in ESDT.
22. Don't forget about the Dairy Cows
23. Finally an explanation re the Drought
24. Could have put this one in the "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose" thread
