facthunter Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago You present a very Biased argument. It's easy to turn a Wind generator OFF. COAL and GAS using steam can fail without warning and usually on the Hottest days leaving an Instant Large shortfall way below demand. Batteries can provide the Quickest response Possible of any source to handle the situation till other Balancing actions are taken. Nev
kgwilson Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Yes my pricing was wrong. On Monday 12th of October the price peaked at $23,107.00 at 14:20. https://wattclarity.com.au/articles/2026/10/12oct-nsw-at-14-20-spike/
Siso Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago What biased in that. That is the way it is. Thing failing are not just limited to coal and gas. 450MW of wind tripped off after seeing too many grid drops in a certain amount of time causing SA to go black. Underground feeders fail at wind farms because they cycle between full load and no load causing thermal cycling and making the joints fail. We replaced every joint twice before we got them more reliable. Just as well we did because we ended up with twice as many joints. Inverters fail at battery facilities. That is one of the advantages of wind and solar how quick you can turn them on and off IF the fuel is available. When we get nuclear we will be able to use them to turn off when there is to much power on the grid.
