Is there a way we could get Chump and Poo-tin, and all their true believers, to live in either Russia or the USA, and all the sensible people from both countries to move to the other one?

It's Putins aim to destroy any economic lifeline for Ukraine, and the attack was likely loosely designed just to hit the port, and the Turkish vessels would have just been collateral damage.

Russia is intent on buggering up Ukrainian grain shipments, and imports of useful equipment to support the war.

Regardless, it's not the way to improve relationships with a big neighbour who has a tendency to waver between supporting the West and supporting Russia. You win wars by garnering big heaps of supporting countries, and Russia is not garnering any more support for the war, than the few countries he already has onside.

More than that, I believe that Both Russia and USA presently aim to break up the EU.

It would be far easier for them to intimidate or intimidate the disparate European countries if they can be separated.

A high-ranking Russian military officer was killed today in a suspected car bomb explosion in Moscow.

Lt-Gen Fanil Sarvarov, 56, was head of the Department of Operational Training of Vladimir Putin's armed forces.

The top brass commander was going to work at the Russian defence ministry in his Kia Sorento when it was hit by a massive blast in Yasenevo district.

The Russian authorities initially indicated the officer was gravely wounded, but later updated to confirm that he had died.

Sarvarov was last year personally promoted by Putin, and was known to have been close to Russia's most senior general, Valery Gerasimov, chief of the defence staff.

Rescuers initially found the victim alive but wounded and trapped in the mangled vehicle.

There was immediate suspicion of a Ukrainian assassination bid against the high ranking officer.

His wife rushed to the scene at the 6:55am explosion but was initially 'not allowed to see her trapped and wounded husband'.

Russian forces have reportedly seized full control of the strategic Shevchenko lithium deposit in the Donetsk region, a move that deals a catastrophic blow to the recently negotiated U.S.-Ukraine critical minerals agreement. This specific mine was a centerpiece of President Zelensky's proposal to the Trump administration, intended to help Ukraine reimburse the United States for billions in military aid by granting exclusive access to its vast natural resources.

The Shevchenko field is one of the largest lithium deposits in Europe, often referred to as "white gold" for its essential role in electric vehicle batteries and defense technology. Its capture by Russian troops effectively nullifies a key component of the "pay back" deal signed in 2025, which relied on these specific assets to generate revenue for the U.S. Treasury.

Analysts view this seizure as a calculated "resource coup" by Vladimir Putin, designed not just for territorial gain but to physically dismantle Ukraine's economic value to the West. By taking the mine before the U.S. could operationalize the agreement, Moscow has secured a critical supply chain asset while leaving Washington with a "paper deal" that no longer has a physical asset to back it up.
