It IS a bit intimidating at times. One should not be put off expressing a view, however. IF you haven't read previous posts on a thread don't expect to get away with that. Nothing is something simply because someone says it is . Be prepared to come up with some evidence. We do get some trolls, but they go after a while. I don't know a better site though. Nev

GG I'm just running out of puff. A lot of people have put their private thoughts out here and it means not one jot to you it would seem. You DO have a "thing" about atheists but you know little of what you speak evidently. Quoting the bible as GOD's word is a bit much to cop for a lot of people even those who have given it a lot of thought and study.. Many of us have been through years of what you are dishing out, and many theists are not of generous spirit towards their fellow men despite being "believers" supposedly. The behaviour of some makes their superior position for the next world and belief seem of no import as they often behave BADLY, in very obvious ways. As a kid I did believe that religious people were NICER and GOOD, because I had that drummed into me. I wish it were true, but it's not I'm afraid.

This is certainly NOT to say they are ALL evil at all, but IF there was a common good effect it should be observable.in them behaving in a noticeably better way, I'm not singling out Christians any more than other religions, but I know more of it as that is how I was brought up .Nev

God is all-knowing, so... Why would god fearing people think they can fool him. Surely HE, it or she ,would see through these Death Bed Repentances. If I was god I'd be a bit cheesed off by people being sneaky to get to heaven, and IF there are people getting there that way, It isn't really going to be very "heavenly" because we would have to catch them and throw rocks at them or something. Turbs there are "Entrenched" views in many religions. You are a researcher and that's fine so it doesn't apply to you. Relax. He is unfortunately saying the same stuff that mucked up my mind when I was in my teens. Having brought up the whole matter as contemptuous of atheist thought and in the humour section I don't think there is much left to be said about the genuineness of what he contributes to an in depth discussion. (It was meant to rubbish atheists..) It's rarely able to be had anywhere on this matter , but distinctly unproductive in this instance, with the instigator. I again thank many for their honest and revealling contributions to the discussion. Over many years now in discussion with believers is the assertion in response to the question How do you know? The reply is..." it is in the bible so it's a fact. The bible is god's word".. I just cannot accept that idea, and why would any thinking person do so?. The BIBLE wasn't written by god, IF it was I'm sure a better job would have been done of it. It was written and altered many times by people, so it's contaminated at least, if not something worse. Nev

That's a lot. You are doing 3/4 as much driving time as a normal weeks working time. Not a good lifestyle. It's much worse in stop start gridlocked traffic, with TOLLs to pay as well. Nev

It's a piddling amount that the servos make. Evaporation would almost wipe it out. I recall gas at 4... yes.. FOUR cents a litre. You could drive without really considering the fuel cost. WE aren't doing too bad by world standards. Europe is probably double what we pay.

When I was up in the NT recently everyone was whinging about the cost of fuel. It's not really much more expensive than Melbourne unless you get way off the beaten track and the total population up there is HALF thst of Geelong, for the whole of the NT.. It's all got to be distributed and there is hardly anyone there to use it. I think they are doing OK but don't let facts get in the way of a good whinge. Nev
