  1. My best way to fall asleep is to practice slow breathing. One minute I'm slowly breathing, next thing I know it's time to get up. A rate of around 6 breaths per minute is optimal for lowering blood pressure, promoting relaxation, and strengthening your body’s ability to tolerate stress. To practice resonance breathing: Go to bed. Inhale for 5 seconds. Hold for 2. Exhale for 5 seconds. Hold for 2. Continue this cycle of breath for a few minutes.
  2. I am not surprised to see that see that the most hazardous power generation is coal. And the least hazardous to humans is solar. The sooner we stop using coal in the vast quantities that we presently do, the better it is for everyone. Thanks for the graph.
  3. My opinion is that although nuclear poer is great, there are three reasons for not going down that path. 1. There doesn't appear to be a proper long term plan to store/recycle/neutralise the long term waste. 2. The costs are prohibitive, and blowouts are highly likely. 3. The lead time is so long that we will have to spend a lot on refurbishing existing coal fired generators to keep them running whilst the first nuclear plant gets built on the site of an old coal fired plant - causing a shortfall of generation for the 15 years build time. Turning one coal fired plant into a construction zone immediately takes a lot of power out of the grid. Where does that extra energy come from - whilst all that time our demand is also growing? Solar perhaps?
  4. There is one major thing missing from our energy network. So far, our government has made nil progress on pumped storage. (Except for Snowy MK2). We should not be waiting for mega batteries to be invented. That is as silly as expecting a new cheap nuclear power station to be invented.
  5. Wait. Soon Bubba will shoot one down. Then we might find out. The media will probably report it as a crashed Cessna. And for once they'll probably be right!
  6. It looks better with the patina rather than having gleaming perfection of a brand new floor. More in keeping with the character of the building.
  7. Well, drones are too small to show up on radar. (Unless they are car size) Don't have a transponder to ident themselves. Unlikely to obey CTA rules (none have been seen in prohibited areas). Some drones are cheap and appeal to dickheads. Conspiricy nuts are generally paranoid. Malicious drone operators are unlikely to show red/green nav lights. I sense the media is short of real news at the moment.
  8. No, everybody doesn't think. They go with the loudest media sound bites. Albaneesy is just keeping the seat warm for Duttin.
  9. Please don't think I believe any lasting good will come of DJT's presidency. I doubt DJT has the knowledge, or wisdom to carry out a tactical economic war. He has more chance to achieve his stated apparent intention to criple his country in multiple ways.
  10. This is a modern problem, psychologically. I have found that many folk are disturbed by constant 'noise' in their brain.either uncontrolled thoughts or voices. Scarey! The first thing in metitation is to 'empty your mind'. Many people can't.
  11. Isn't that also our main criticism of china? After WW2, the asians (at the time Japan. Later, China) made it clear that the big wars will not be done with weapons. They will be done with economics. Although DJT is a loose cannon, he is trying to fight fire with fire. Ref: "The Art of War" Unless pootin uses nukes.
  12. Thanks for the update. I was starting to worry about the growing pressure on you. Especially at this time of year. Tis a big project. On top of having a Starmer in the country.
  13. Noted the comment 'If the press don't like us this time, well just have to take them on again...'
  14. He seems to think 'famous' and 'infamous' are interchangeable.
  15. 'Look everyone... I'm famous!'
  16. Obliquely, I'm implying that the christian movement wasn't convincing enough on its own merit - so it claimed other's festivals, brliefs, etc. And renamed them, then claimed to have invented them. A bit like USA rednecks claiming that the only Real Americans, are those descended from a select small group of immigrants.
  17. Did you know.... I thought that Friday was named after the Norse Goddess 'Freya' (or Freja). She was the goddess of fertility, love, and war. Not so. Friday was named after a different goddess: 'Frigg'. 'The English weekday name Friday (ultimately meaning 'Frigg's Day') bears her name. After Christianization, the mention of Frigg continued to occur.....' And after that, frigging mostly occurred on weekends.
  18. How's the floors coming along? Will you have them done by christmas? It's a busy time of year - hard to fit in renovation work!
  19. Bear in mind that (according to Wikki), Time is not highlighting the man's quality. But neither he, nor his followers understand that...... "The distinction is supposed to go to the person who, "for good or ill", has most affected the course of the year; it is, therefore, not necessarily an honor or a reward. In the past, such figures as Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin have been Man of the Year."
  20. Aaaagh! I was doing so well. But I can't ignore that ! I can't see any damage to his ear.....
  21. Nah, they were not evicted, they just gave up floggin a dead horse.
  22. A great proposition. But I don't share your optism. Even if the whole Australian population was likeminded and didn't like any particlar USA policy or decision, do you really believe WE could change it? The mouse cannot roar.
  23. Totally agree. I'm saying that at present I refuse to waste my energy on meaningless BS that issues from DJT. Of course the problems will only get worse - after January. Meanwhile I keep only a mild awareness of his many claims during the leadup to his official start as president, because his word is so unreliable. After January, we will all need awareness and rational analysis to understand the extent of what he does, and the implications that ripple out from them.
  24. No it isn't. It's just choosing to ignore the meaningless background noise. Besides that, a wet fish is something that I can do something about.
  25. That might be interesting. Has any country managed to evict the yanks, once they set up camp?
