In 1959 I paid 1/- for a piece of plywood to make a boomerang. I bought it at the side door of FA Stowe & Co in North Albury. I still have the boomerang and can provide photographic evidence if required.

Those of us who studied through UNSW around 1970 learned FORTRAN 4 using the Watfor compiler, which I think was created by one of their researchers. We then moved on to BASIC. Fortunately, at the time there were not many languages in use for the non-machine language peasants.

My hire car in the USA would say "bear right" but I never saw it. -
I was in a museum yesterday (Maldon machinery museum) and saw a HP9825, a model that I used to program in HP modified BASIC in 1976. Made me feel old.
