  1. yeah, Africa was an experience that has helped me with my perspective immensely, been able to live comfortably and now buy a house where others immediately walk out as it doesn't have their "basics" Personally I would jump on this, happily take cheaper power to shed the air-con in high peak times. I've lived without one for a long time. and try to use it sparingly or at 24-25 degrees
  2. Yeah, whenever I have looked into it, there has always been mention of the special blue grease that must be applied. quick google shows the same
  3. Ill take it for a drive later and see how it feels. $500 for a set of brakes all around (disc and pads front, drums and shoes rear). ill replace them in a month or two once I've moved and got a shed. needed replacing anyway - had them adjusted when it was last in, and the mechanic reported glazing and adjuster screws faulty
  4. I hope so, part of the reason I forgot the park brake is because it was rolling back when I got in it. it needs the rear brakes replaced anyway (faulty adjuster and glazed) was just trying to get a bit of use before I did it. left the brake off last night - I know applying the handbrake on hot discs while they cool can warp them. wasn't sure if it was the same with drums
  5. well that turned expensive.... was meant to go in, get the carbys rebuilt. and come out the same day... stayed for almost two weeks. turned out that the carbys weren't getting enough fuel, despite flooding at idle. so new fuel pump (where it was discovered the old one was wired into the the coil) then the new pump wasn't sucking - so new fuel lines. still not running right, further inspection found the new distributor had play - so another new one put in. new choke cable and she is back in my hands, was running okay last night so took her to a meeting..... that unfortunately dragged on for much, much longer then expected. .... was Dark when I left, and trying to find all the switches and choke with no light - completely forgot about the handbrake and drove home with it on, could smell the rear drums burning when I parked. and also burning hot to touch. so upset with myself - worrying I've damaged something
  6. boxing may well be the movements undoing - there is a lot of pushback for safety reasons. the physical difference is really highlighted and of course the general idea of men beating women to death is universally despised. problem with transgender - is you have the same issues with body difference, and I guarantee they will be asking for two categories...
  7. Sierra Leone, Liberia off the top of my head. not sure if Ghana and Nigeria are 3rd world.

    Tax Cuts

Dutton never was the most liked person.... But this might be a time to accept rather then rail against the government, its not going to do them any favor's to oppose this purely out of spite being in opposition
  9. nah, the 1500 is the engine and gearbox from a triumph spitfire. its basically mirrored (intake and exhaust on the opposite side) has more torque then the 1275. but doesn't like to rev. the crankshaft is the weak spot in the motors, they are known to flex (that and thrust bearings dropping out when worn) those who race prefer the A series engines. because they have much better support, and also can be made to rev
  10. "For more than 100 years, the white coat has served as a prominent symbol of care, pride, prestige, and authority for physicians. However, until the mid-1920s, physicians wore black coats to dissect cadavers as a sign of respect for the dead. During this time, laboratory scientists wore beige coats. Scientists were well-respected by the public for connecting the certainty of science with modern medicine. In an effort to emulate scientists, physicians began to don beige coats. White later became the preferred color because it symbolizes cleanliness and purity." https://smhs.gwu.edu/news/what-it-means-wear-white#:~:text=For more than 100 years, laboratory scientists wore beige coats.
  11. Yeah, basically been told its there - but too mild to treat. its not going to get any better. so need to keep moving and de-sensitize the body to the pain
  12. so update, been a mixture of fun when running, but long periods parked broken. had the distributor and diff straps replaced. along with a brake service. and swapping to hotter plugs. was still less then ideal, but was drivable for a month or two. then just before Christmas it fouled the plugs and ran like it was about to die. so back the mechanic it went to get the Carbs done (they were waiting on some cleaning machinery) anyway they got it back together and running... but I asked for a fuel filter to be fitted inline before the carbs. thinking some of the rough running was from a dirty/rusty fuel tank. well this had another effect and instead showed us that the fuel pump was very week. so while it was rich at idle, it was starving higher in the rev range. (also showed how poorly bodged together the previous owner did things. sitting loose with wiring that was less then ideal - like being wired to the coil instead of the ignition) hopefully should get it back tomorrow - be interested to see if she's more responsive with the rebuilt carb and new pump. Bonus: found out the cars history in Australia through the local sprite club. its one of only 4 rubber bumpers in Adelaide so got plenty of attention at the club's show and shine. the prior owner to the person I purchased it from picked it up from an elderly gentleman as a spare car - was too good to use as the intended parts donor. drove it for a year or so until the engine broke a timing gear. then sold it not running.
  13. surgeons/barber surgeon's used to wear the blood stains as proof of experience. I thought traditionally doctors wore black?
  14. Im 32.... not middle aged yet, so ill Gripe away mostly about housing, and already struggling with arthritis
  15. the information I have is from past girlfriends, who have gone through divorce - unfortunately months after the wedding. both cases I have been exposed to it was Driven by family pressure, wanting to be married before a parent died. and Unfortunately it changed the relationship with the husbands being controlling over every aspect of life, to the point of seeking children against the will of the the woman - to try and guarantee future control. often they leave completely and move interstate to try and break any contact and influence. leaving behind any physical assets. and the courts take the financial that's left. you'd think its a rare occurrence but so far 3 ex-girlfriends have been through it. and the continual emotional fallout also lead to the demise of our relationship. same thing with sexual assaults - looking back at how many people I've dated had been though it, its horrifyingly common
  16. Oh for sure, none of this happens in a vaccum, and I only get one side of the story... But I don't date men😅
  17. interesting you say that, im 32 and single, never married. but ive picked up on it with dating just how much divorce has torched the finances of people my age. that built up the savings for a deposit only to lose most of it in the divorce. the cases ive encountered in dating are mostly females escaping partners.
  18. Worse is looking at the prior sale prices. and realizing your almost double the 2019 price....
  19. whats worse, the enemy shooting down your assets. or your own military shooting down key assets.... surely it being incompetence is worse
  20. I reckon buying a house is the most stressful experience. Dealing with realtors who are little on details, and either pushing constantly or never returning calls. then pricing. may as well use a dartboard, the listed price has little to do with the expected price (add 20k as a starting point is my rule of thumb) this has to be the only industry where the advertised price isn't the purchase price - I vote if you want to go highest offer then do an auction add in a building inspection - that finds several faults, renegotiating a price with the seller to hopefully cover costs, for what a best guess is at repairs. and now finance, with the bank looking through past records with a comb and questioning anything that doesn't fit with the estimated budget for living costs submitted. I just hope the finance goes through..... I don't want to do this process again
  21. yeah any other family would be proud of that profession not the Trumps who in their eyes saw it as no better then a bus driver.
  22. So there is a reason I chose those two points, they are both main train stations on two lines. both are large "satellite cities" east of the CBD complete with high-rises. yet no direct connection between them (the bus route was just dots with all the stops) here is a comparison if you drive
  23. Oooh, there is a fun exercise. someone find me a time efficient way to get from Box Hill to Dandenong. in a time comparable to a car?
  24. unpopular opinion.... too many stops. trying to accommodate everyone and having a poorer service for it. I have 4 vehicles I can choose to take. and it serves me well. I am not reliant on public transport, But I would like to use it more, its convenient when going to populated areas like the city. especially with parking costs but there is always the issue of time. a 30 minute drive turns into a 1 hour+ trip on public transport. its just not time effective. (and also worried about missing the last bus/train/tram home) I think we need a hub and spoke approach. bus goes in a loop around the suburb to one central spot like the train station - then another goes from hubs to hub, no stops along the way - express to each hub. at the new hub you can. jump on the loop bus again to get closer to your journey... I think this would improve the road congestion too. nothing is more annoying on a main road then a bus that is stopping every 500m, effectively closing a lane of traffic. especially with another one on a different route doing the same thing 1km ahead

    Israel

now something that hasnt been discussed. why has the US given Israel a free pass to do as they please... two reasons. I believe Joint Defence development - dont foget the US funded a significant part of Iron Dome, and use the tech in their own defense systems. and the second - computer chips, Isreal is the largest developer and manufacturer of advanced computer chips outside of Asia.
