I’ve better too. Glaucoma knocked off a lot of vision in one eye (the other one is fine) and I lost my wife in August so life has been a bit hard. Nevertheless it’s Christmas and we’ll have a good day.

Celebrating Positives (offset of the Gripes Thread)

They would have assumed you drove a road train. If they were matching thongs they would have given you credit for being well dressed. -
He’s probably up the creek with a paddle.

More like ten to fifteen years for me. By that time development may have matured, range increased to make long distance driving easy and stress-free, charging stations available everywhere with five minutes from dead flat to full charge, and prices come down to reasonable levels. Re-sale value of current EV’s must generally be near re-cycling levels.

Then I check the clock and it's only 1:00am.

I’m waiting for a good, cheap, small, cold nuclear fusion reactor.

Drones don't have a lot of flying time before the batteries run out so you would think it would be a simple matter to send someone up in a helicopter to follow them home. It can't be that hard.

Here's a typical example of how he does things. When asked in his Time Magazine interview whether he would instruct his pick for the Attorney General, Pam Bondi to go after his political enemies, he said "No, that will be up to her". Given that he's previously repeatedly said he would have every right to pursue his political enemies after what they did to him, Pam Bondi knows perfectly well what he's expecting her to do. In the meantime he can stand back and claim he had nothing to do with her decisions. It will be interesting to see what happens if she doesn't follow through. She will probably get the sack.

This article has some footage of these drones. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12-14/new-jersey-new-york-drone-sightings-prompt-donald-trump-concern/104726026

Of the 60 or so people Trump has so far picked for his Cabinet or for senior level positions, at least: 5 are billionaires 8 have been major Trump donors 12 have hosted/co-hosted Mar-a-Lago events 13 showed up at his New York criminal trial 17 are associated with the America First Policy Institute or Project 2025 11 are or have been Fox hosts or contributors 9 have been registered lobbyists 28 served or advised in his previous administration Loyalty to Trump is a pre-requisite, of course.

You can think of `nothing' as in the concept of nothing, but as soon as you think, it has to be of something. If your mind is really not thinking, which it may do if there is no mental activity going on, you may need to seek medical help.

His plan is to ‘win’ and he doesn’t care about any collateral damage to other countries.

Not particularly following but my son showed me some videos. There's obviously something odd going on, but I would have thought someone would have flown up to take a closer look by now. They aren't very high or going very fast. You have to wonder why they're flying around in various formations with strobes and nav lights on so that anyone can see them. They're obviously not trying to hide. It shouldn't be that hard to find out what they are and what they're doing. Probably the high tech equivalent of crop circles where the aim is to get noticed and get some conspiracy theories circulating.

All he sees is ‘famous’. Everything else is irrelevant. It just highlights his fundamental insecurity and weakness.

Trump's just been named Time Magazine Person of the Year - `for better or for worse' according to the fine print. I'm sure he thinks it's a great image, and so it is because it shows exactly who he is - arrogant, egotistical and empty.

I bought the one-time Office option about 4 years ago rather than sign up for the subscription. It was about twice the cost of the subscription at the time but does all I need as a single user and I should be well ahead on cost by now.

A lot of people are relying on those SP bookies to gamble successfully with their superannuation savings.
-
I think he may be crediting Trump with thinking like an economist, rather than the impulsive, egotistical disrupter that he is. Still he may be right about the outcome.

Well known personalities who have passed away recently (Renamed)

As long as I'm not listed on here, all is relatively well. -
Any lower and they'd miss me altogether.

Taswegia? Good choice. Nobody knows where that is. You’ll be fine.

The worst part about Joe's backflip and claiming that Hunter's prosecution was politically motivated is that it echoes exactly what Trump keeps saying. Trump is already calling for Joe to pardon the J6 `political prisoners' as well.

As has been said, Biden is a decent guy and in no way comparable to Trump in terms of his ethics, except on this issue where he did what he always said he wouldn't do. No doubt the Republicans went after Hunter Biden hoping to get to Joe, and he certainly had drug issues which got him into trouble, but at the end of the day Joe stayed above it and Hunter pleaded guilty as charged. That should have been the end of it. If he wasn't the president's son, and the president had not caved at the end of the day, he wouldn't have got this pardon, and that's the problem. Trump of course would be happy to pre-emptively pardon Don Jr just in case he ever committed any crimes. Half of Trump's cabinet picks have criminal records, including Trump himself, so by comparison Joe is a comparative saint despite this late embarrassing backflip.
-
It's a pretty poor effort after all his previous promises not to pardon him. He's now on a par with Trump, as far as credibility is concerned. Maybe he was hoping nobody would notice.

Even if Trump and Vance were both deemed mentally incompetent, the House Speaker, Mike Johnson would be next in line. Hardly an improvement. The best option would be a big defeat for the Republicans at the mid-term elections if Trump and his cronies make a complete mess of things in the meantime.
