Nev "something better" means Govt handouts and the pension, and the means by which immigrants can send remittance back home. $5 billion sent home by Indians, $3.5 billion sent home by Chinese. Add the rest and it reached $25 billion (in 2024). And my village can't even get a dusty main dirt street sealed. Our Council simply hasn't got the money. A grant from the State Govt would only need to be about $2-3 million. The traffic is quite extensive because of a popular camping ground. The street is short but the dust from it gets in/on everything, in your lungs. Everything needs constant cleaning. Edited 16 hours ago by Grumpy Old Nasho 1
facthunter Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago My Point is that anything is better than war. IF you CHOSE to live in the sticks don't expect the Features and facilities of the Suburbs to be there. Nev 1

It’s much more likely that they worked hard for it doing jobs and running businesses that Real Australians didn’t want, and paying taxes as well. Edited 2 hours ago by rgmwa 1
Grumpy Old Nasho Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago New immigrants from "war torn" countries often go back and spend a holiday with relos. 2 hours ago, facthunter said: IF you CHOSE to live in the sticks don't expect the Features and facilities of the Suburbs to be there. There's no money, that's why. The Govt spends it on terrorists' families. 1 1

But remittance can be from Govt handouts as well as from private earnings. 7 minutes ago, rgmwa said: It’s much more likely that they worked hard for it doing jobs and running businesses that Real Australians didn’t want. Remittance doesn't benefit Australia, billions are lost forever. But Real Australians' wages and salaries does benefit OZ, it's not lost. And Real Australians do whatever work they need to do to earn a living. Your cliche about not wanting to work is crap.

My son's partner (who I guess you wouldn't approve of) is a high flyer and pays loads of tax. The immigrants that some people think are stealing their jobs are also paying tax.

I said they don't want the kinds of jobs that Indians, Chinese and others typically do. And I'm generalising here, as you are. If they're sending some money overseas to help support their families, then good on them. Your $25 billion, if it can be believed, works out at about $20 per week per person, so it's hardly a large amount that is not being spent here. They've also typically earned that money, paid their taxes, and will spend far more than they send just on daily living. Overall, they are an asset to the country, not a liability. I might add that I'm also not a Real Australian, by your definition, so you would probably resent me being in this country too. Edited 2 hours ago by rgmwa

I said they don't want the kinds of jobs that Indians, Chinese and others typically do. It's still crap, because ethnics are replacing Real Australians at a rapid rate in the big cities. Before mass immigration, Real Aussies were doing everything, including the Councils' collection of filled thunder box bins, a mate of mine used to do that. Now of course we have underground sewage pipes, but many outlying suburbs in the sixties still hadn't. There were some undignified menial jobs I did before I regained my confidence to re-enter my trade after being discharged from conscription. There was a recession and I had to take whatever I could get. Today, Sydney is becoming mostly an ethnic city, so it stands to reason that ethnics will be taking over doing menial work, it's obvious. There was also a news report years ago where an Aussie was sacked from his trolley collection job at a supermarket because ethnics were prepared to do the job cheaper, or some such thing. Ethnics now collect the trolleys.
rgmwa Posted 47 minutes ago Posted 47 minutes ago You should be happy that many ethnics are willing to do menial jobs, so Real Australians are free to do better and higher paying jobs.
octave Posted 38 minutes ago Posted 38 minutes ago Why are most Uber drivers ethnic? I don't believe Uber recruits on ethnicity. I am sure they don't give a toss about the ethnicity of the people who make money for them.
