They keep missing cos space is really big ... really really big .. compared with planets and stuff. It's the same as mid-airs between aircraft. The sky is really big compared to Jabirus.

Think of a roulette wheel with billions of slots and 2 balls. What is the chance that both balls will occupy the same slot?

You're dead right of course mate. . . . I never really understood how really really really BIG space is. . .until I read the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. . . .and even NOW I'm not sure. . . .

In a big crowded casino. . .where there are loads of balls and slots close together maybe. . . . ?

On a 'Sort of' related topic, well Meteorites anyway,. . .

'Moon Watcher satellite to send real time footage of meteorites striking the moon's surface. . .( Wonder if they'll edit out the flying saucers ? )

have a look at this link ( some of the BTL comments are quite amusing. . ..)

Watch meteorites slam into the moon LIVE: 'MoonWatcher' satellite will beam home real-time lunar views

There actually is a game called 2 ball roulette. The odds of both balls occupying the same slot would be 1 to 36 (in a 36 slot wheel) IF the first ball did not make that slot harder for the second ball to fall into. Think of the first ball to settle as choosing one number out of the wheel and then the second as having to fall in that slot.

Imagine how many slots there would be if every aeroplane-sized chunk of sky was a slot.

Hey it would be great to see the moon being hit in real time. Thanks Phil.

Well the tiny camera satellite will be in High Earth orbit, but I wonder if it's HD resolution will be sufficient to confirm man made articles on the surface like, moon rovers and other evidence of a manned mission just to upset the Moon landing deniers. . . !
