I upgraded to Win11 partly because I have a couple of computer experts in my family.   One good reason for me to upgrade is that as the software I use has more features added to it, the operating system required also increases.   This does not seem to be a problem between 10 and 11 (as far as I know), it is easy to end up with an antiquated operating system.

I do find the automatic saving of data on OneDrive annoying, although I believe you can disable it. OneDrive has been useful over the past 18 months due to a legal situation with the drug-dealing neighbours, whereby my doorbell cam footage has been used in a legal case.  It was imperative to store these files both on my PC and off-site.

I do think that every version that comes out meets with complaints, and then, often, sometime later, when these folks have finally upgraded, this version becomes the one that they don't want to move on from.

In terms of spying, I kind of assume that my PC is never completely private.

Of course, it is an individual choice, and it does depend on what you use your PC for.  There are features that I now use that would not be available to me if I did not upgrade (not so much 10 to 11, but if I were stuck back on 8 or 7)

Spying, or rather having a deepfake made, is the reason I am resisting Facebooks blackmail demand for a facial video "for identification purposes". Without it, I am locked out of Facebook. The annoying thing is, the PC's they want to be able to identify me on are old recycled desktops with monitors that don't have webcams. That means no DJT updates, no quickies, no silly pictures, and the brain teasers I have on file are running out. And I miss my trivia quizzes to keep the old grey matter ticking.

For your funny pics, Instascam should do.. I see a lot of them on there when I am on. Same for funny vids, I guess. And also, noticed more quickies ending up there, too, though you would prob have to screen shot them.  Not sure about the brain teasers, though. Seems more mind-mumbing on Instascam to me.

Sometimes circumstances beyond our control dictate oor outcomes. The computer that I had which was running WIN 10 got the Royal Order of the Rigid Digit. So I had to but a new one. Luckily I the computer shop offered me a reconditioned one for $495. It has 8 GB of Ram, a 256 GB SSD drive and 1 TB of SATA storage and WIN 11 installed. I don't know what all that means, but I'm told that it will be sufficient unto my needs. I had to buy a personal copy of MS-Windows. I also bought and external hard drive caddy into which the shop fitted the hard drive from my very original computer. The shop was able to retrieve recent data from the hard drive in the computer that failed.

I've got everything connected, but I have to work out how to move folders onto my desktop from where they are held. But that's a job for later. I've also got to activate the spellchecker to overcome the current plague of keyboard mis-strikes that seems to be affected some of us.

Apart from a bit of a different look about it, I haven't had a problem with WIN 11. But then, I haven't explored it much either.
