Anyone here good with C?
Kyle Communications replied to flying dog's topic in Science and Technology
Adafruit are a real push in the homebrew/kit electronics market...They have a heap of Eagle libraries I use for my pcb stuff. Now I see you display it is individually addressed and colour RGB must be some sort of I2C bus. Now it would be a trick to display what you want using this led module as it needs to be "decoded" with your software to be able to drive the appropriate display... Bit out of my level of programming....I am much better with hardware than the software although I can usually get stuff working ok. Got a lift controller working at my farm it is run with arduino and xbee units. The lift carriage up and down is wireless operation the upstairs and downstairs controls are wired to the main arduino master control. Lift carriage has a gate interlock etc. This was taken when I first got it going..it is used all the time just needs a bit of tidying up which happens from time to time when we get up there -

You will have to come up with a calculation that turns your error output or angle output to a reference that can then be used to operate a bit on the port or you could do it a easier way just use a lm3914 barograph display driver it only needs a voltage input on a scale it can be calibrated as such...the output of your gyro sensor can go into the adc then you can use a pam to drive the lm3914 for a easier display -

I run xp on my macpro under parallels and my imac with xp in bootcamp works like a treat i use win7 where i work and i put up with it but funny enough 7 lets you run xp as a virtual machine and that is a download from microsloth shows that even microsloth thinks their win7 still cant cut the mustard

Col Remember we are talking about the people arriving on boats here...are you trying to tell me that someone who can front up the US$20,000 to get on those boats does NOT have ay means of identification?????....someone from a refugee camp in the congo or sudan yes I can understand it totally but not in the boat case...they wilfully destroy or do not bring documentation at all so if they want to do that well they can sit in a detention camp for as long as it takes
-
Well if you want to rock up with no documents what do they expect……they destroy them
-
Well my version of a true refugee is the poor dude and his family who have very little and are being persecuted for either their religion or at worst even where they live. These people do not have US$20,000 thats like us having a million dollars sitting there in your tin in the back yard. Most of the refugees who can afford these prices are not the battler more than likely they are well to do people who no doubt could be persecuted for their religion or just that they are richer than most where they live. I would be more happier with the ones that when they come here become part of our lives not get in their own communities and don't participate in what we can offer here and genuinely appreciate the chance they have been given but there doesn't seem to be too much of that sort of immigration happening. There should be some rules when you come here and that is you must learn english and you should integrate into our country and our lifestyles. I don't care what religion or colour you are so long as you don't push it down my throat or order a Jihad or some other non considerate barrow you want to push. You have come here with another chance at starting a new life with plenty of opportunities to actually have far more than you could ever have had from where you came. I truly don't care if you are rich or poor per say so long as for every rich or well off one we bring a poor one in. This place was built on immigrants 10 pound poms and italians and greeks and vietnamese etc and generally most have integrated well and this makes up our diverse range of food and cultures which I think makes our country a better place. The current system in not fair to all that is what I object to. Mark

They do FT?….mmmm seems to me not too many true refugees can afford the US$20,000 for the boat ride
-
Hey careful FT...... Wyatt Roy is my local member He is actually a go getter he spends 2 days every week on street corners talking to the public listening to their gripes...whether it actually gets anything done I am not sure but at least he appears in his electorate and anyone can go and see him...be it to praise him or poke him....more than most pollies do anyway

MartyD "The world has changed. There are no longer masses of unskilled jobs available. Who wants 300 people with shovels and pick-axes making roads when excavators and bulldozers do it far quicker and without workplace injuries?" Marty that's maybe what we do need to do....get the dole bludgers onto the shovel and picks and build more infrastructure....and this may give them the incentive to actually get some training and find another job. Work for the dole is must in my view and also it MUST be policed properly not like before when it was running..it was a joke then
-
I have a different view. There are way too many bludgers on the system and half of my wife's relations are just that. I think we need to bring in a food stamps style of system BUT you still need to give them some monetary pension say $30.00 each so they have some sort of money. There MUST be housing for these people on the benefits system and this has to be subsidized on the utility side somehow but they use their stamp system to pay for those utilities. There MUST be training available to help people back into he workforce or some type of "work for the dole" scheme that if the person is doing or has done this for the required amount of time they get priority over someone who hasn't to be inline for jobs. This is not a easy issue at all and there would need to be a lot of work done on this to implement something...not necessarily as above but something like it. We need to give people and incentive to go out and find a job so you do need some system that pricks them in the bum to make them get off it yet does NOT disadvantage many people as there are always the exception to the rule. As far as this carers thing and medical pensions I think they must be more severely scrutinized as they are not now...I know at last 40 people who are on the dole or sickness benefits or carers pensions and maybe 2 of them have a valid reason...its not right as they know how to rort the system Mark

Palmer is unstable and has a god complex

Sorry should have qualified that statement…90% of the 50% of the population that are above the age of 40
-
Who said criminals would be badly treated..thats not a good start on the way to trying to make a reasonable person out of a bad one. I am not a do gooder but think I am pretty stable and have a vision for what would be good for the country and 99% of the population. The problem with our society is that the governments are trying to legislate for the lowest common denominator…when in real terms the lowest common denominator is probably only around 5 to 10% of the population. The rest of us generally are level headed and have that rare commodity called "common sense". The governments over the last 40 years have been trying to stop common sense they do it in our education system and in their legislative actions they also are taking away the other rare thing and that is called being responsible for your own actions. The younger generation now has been the victim of this dumbing down and with this they have no respect for older people and their values or dare I say the police or the law….the government is a victim of their own actions

Vote for me a benevolent dictator. I would sort a few things out The problem with a democracy is that it rarely works because 51% are happy with the decisions and 49% are cranky about it. One boss and the rest followers works better usually…now don't start on the Hitler crap and all those other looneys the word "benevolent" is the key here….although absolute power usually corrupts absolutely over time…Bjelke Joh is a good example..he did great things for this state because he ran it like a dictator…but after 23 years he became filled with his own delusions of grander and thought he could do anything he wanted So give me a couple of years in the job and I would clean a lot of things up. The do gooders wouldn't like me though problem is more jails would need to be built…then again that brings up more employment I suppose. Waiting for the flames to appear
