Did you know that there is a Gaza Province in Mozambique? Now that I've told you, just look how Trump has used that fact to create what must be one of his greatest lies ever. The lie claims that $60.8M worth of condoms and contraceptives were sent to Gaza in the previous year. The implication relies on people not knowing of the Mozambique Province and immediately thinking of the more famous one. Then the lie was boosted by saying that the condoms were used for the productions of explosive devices. Talk about a blow job with protection! I should have posted this video in the funny videos section.

Can anyone honestly tell me what's the difference between Fundamentalist Islamism and Trumpism?
-
Does anyone know if Trump did make an oath, or did he make an affirmation when he was sworn in? Since he did not place his hand on a bible, one might assume it was an affirmation.

I thought that until 2016 there was an equilibrium in the USA. The equilibrium was upset by Trump. During Trump's present stint I think that the MAGA people will see that Trump's ideology is not doing them any good, and they may drift towards a more central position. However, most MAGA people come from an established culture of white supremacy, and we know that cultures take several generations to change. Perhaps the Generation Alpha and the younger amongst the Gen Zs might reflect on the suffering Trumps is causing and have second thoughts about maintaining their parents' culture.

Gentlemen! Please! Let's' not forget to play the ball, not the man. GON, I disagree with what you have been saying, but I must defend your Right to say it. That's the way we run this forum. However, recently we have begun to demand supporting evidence when a controversial statement is made. A claim such as, The radical lefties are/were a security threat, cannot be plucked from the air and dropped into a post. I agree that some left-leaning people have threatened the security of activities the rest of us consider to be OK. Look at the motto of the French Revolution, Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité. If you were a French aristocrat, you'd consider that a radical leftist motto.

When the oil refinery was in operation at Kurnell, on the shore of Botany Bay, there was a hot water outlet into the bay. Best fishing spot evvvah. -
I think that you have to look at the reactions to all those Executive Orders. A lot of them have been stopped by legal action. Even the military is saying that it won't comply with the Order to remove DEI from its policies. Trump has been blowing off about introducing tariffs. Has anyone heard that they have been introduced? His deportation policy has resulted in a lot of harassment of true US citizens, based on physical appearance Someone commented that you don't see many Asian or Europeans amongst the deportees.

Yeah. Back in the day when it got too hot they punched your ticket in the wrong place. -
Be careful about what is posted on US media. You know by now how inaccurate its reporting can be. Trump hasn't sacked any public servants. There is an offer of a payout to those who want to quit the PS, but that doesn't become available for a couple of months. There is a grassroots movement amongst the PS to ignore the offer and keep working. So those on duty were already the well-trained, experienced controllers. Those of us who have piloting experience can clearly see that the collision was the result of pilot error, most likely on the part of the military pilot. Trump is blaming the FAA's DEI policy, Obama and Biden. What else would you expect from him?

Sorry to strike down your hero, Spacey. For a while Ford seemed like a decent bloke. He upped the pay rate to $5 per day, which the other manufacturers thought was outrageous. However, as he aged he became less nice. He was anti-semitic, anti-union, anti-communist. Those characteristics in him are well documented.

I think that Musk is exactly like Henry Ford. Both owe their success to the practice of hiring the best experts in a field that they are interested in, and supporting those experts to produce stuff. Musk himself was a software creator in his early days. The software he developed wasn't for engineering.

I would suggest that the heating of the surface adds energy to the electrons in the solar cells, making it a tad easier for them to escape from the molecules that are attached to. Therefore more electrons off means more electrons (electricity). At night the cells might be absorbing heat from the atmosphere, thereby cooling it. -
On the scrap heap along with the BMC dealers.

The horse has bolted, and even if we put the slip rails back up now, it is going to take centuries for climatic stabilisation. And that point of stabilisation might be somewhat distant to what it was in 1750. -
"Too much"? OK, I'll back off and just say that I am reading something into what I have observed. "Australian for a republic" or not, wouldn't you continue to say "King Charles"? That is his title. Listen to how every other national leader is identified. It is always with the use of their title of office. To hear US politicians and journalists, who have been brought up to use the format, not using it has to indicate something. I say it is a loss of respect, not os much for the office, but for the incumbent.

Those reality shows are made just so that the TV stations can meet the licensing requirement to broadcast a certain percentage of Australian produced content. Reality shows are incredibly cheap to produce in comparison to theatrical shows - drama or comedy. They do not give employment to our thespians and numbers of behind-the-scenes people, all of whom in the past have shown themselves to be as good as or better than those of other countries. Reality shows they do not promote the expression of either our past or present history. There are volumes of great material from which to make really good television. Shows don't have to be retelling of war stories or exploration. We should look into our locally produced literature for ideas. I won't list the very many locally produced drama and comedy shows there have been in the past. I leave that to you to recall. Technically these were quality productions. Some had storylines that may have been trivial, but the ratings showed that they were what the people wanted. There are production companies producing good stuff, but they only seem to be broadcast by the ABC or SBS. Two networks that other media have taken efforts to dissuade us from viewing.

Just an observation. I was watching some stuff about what Trump is doing at the moment. That stuff included journalists' comments and the comments of elected officials. What struck me is that in all the stuff I watched, no one has used the word "President" before saying "Donald Trump". That omission is in stark contrast to how he was being described before the inauguration. During the election campaign it was always "former President", and afterwards it was "President-elect". The Americans have always addressed their Presidents with the greatest respect. Now it appears that Trump has so sullied the Office of President that the level of respect towards him is no more than that which would be given to a sports or movie star who would only be spoken of by the use of a surname. If there is one thing that Trump can be assured of, it is that he will be recorded in US history as the most disliked President the country has ever had. It's hard to imagine a President in the future who could be worse.

Let's face it. Two hundred or so years of observations are really insufficient to predict global weather systems that have developed over millions of years as a result of solar radiation and landforms. The behaviour of the atmosphere today is what it is, and all the King's horses etc. At solar midday at 150 degrees East today the shade temperature at my back door was 44.5 C -
Aren't we generating lots of "free energy" from the sunshine and wind? Surely that should at least keep energy prices stable year to year.

That is what duct tape is for. And let's not get into arguing over "duct" or "duck" tape https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duct_tape

Wow! Close down the scientific bodies which protect the people and the Seven Plagues of Egypt descend upon the land.

If making money is at the heart of the US culture, then it is suffering a massive heart attack. Even before Trump was sworn in, there existed a major threat to the economy that no one seems to talk about. It is the massive drop in egg production, resulting from the presence of bird flu amongst the country's poultry. The disease control rule is that, if one bird gets the flu, every bird in the shed has to be destroyed. That has almost wiped out egg production. "So what", you say. "It'll just be bacon for breakfast, not bacon and eggs." But consider how many other manufactured foods have eggs in them. No more Twinkies in school lunch boxes. Many of Trump's billionaire techy mates have promised squillions of dollars for the development of AI. Since early trading began on January 27th the market value of Nvidia, an AI chipmaking champion, has slumped by 17% at the time of writing. The share prices of Alphabet, Amazon and Microsoft—America’s cloud-computing triumvirate—have fallen by 3%, 1% and 3%, respectively. All told, American tech companies have shed around $1trn in value. This is all because of a Chinese AI company's release of an AI version called DeepSeek claiming its performance is ‘on par with OpenAI-o1’. Finally I don't have to reiterate that Trump's deportation policy, and tariff threats against China have decimated US agriculture.
