  1. One of the nicest days for a long time in Melbourne, so I decided to take a drive.Visited some of the places I lived in before I was married, and hadn't seen some of them in over 40 years. The ultimate destination was Essendon airport, and what a disappointment.Very few aircraft, and those that were there were parked well away from anywhere you could take a photo. Most accesses now have double gates you could fit a car between (airlock fashion) and multiple chain-link fences, some even with what looked like flyscreen on them. You could catch a glimpse of a wing, or a tail, but not a whole aircraft without some obstruction in front of it. There were 3 bizjets together, a Bombardier Challenger and similar, one VH, one N (USA), and one ZK. I didn't even get out the camera or phone.
  2. It is in use, telling you it's not in use. (On the left.)

No. It was an old B&W film of a guy in a bowling alley doing trick shots, like bowling a strike through his legs, picking up a spare laying on the floor and pushing the ball with his foot, bowling two strikes in adjacent lanes simultaeously, bowling one ball slowly and two more faster to take out a strike, and many more unbelievable shots. I had a quick look on YT but didn't see it there.
  5. You are absolutely right, and again it looks like I'm in the minority. Quite familiar with that. But to me, they just look dirty. Maybe because I'm an old phart, turn 80 in six months. You see a nice looking young lady, then she takes off her jacket and has black and blue from wrist to shoulder. Yuk. Like she has been through a meat grinder. If she has to have a tattoo, a heart or butterfly no bigger than a 10c coin, behind the ear or on the ankle might be OK.

  7. CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy) is a high priority in reducing head trauma and concussion. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is a neurodegenerative disease linked to repeated trauma to the head. The encephalopathy symptoms can include behavioral problems, mood problems, and problems with thinking. The disease often gets worse over time and can result in dementia. Many players such as Wally Lewis in NRL and Danny Frawley AFL are high profile cases of CTE. Danny Frawley was killed when his ute hit a tree, suspected as a result to CTE. The AFL takes a very dim view of players colliding with others, and falling and hitting the head on the ground after a high mark are also under constant scrutiny.
  8. While you are talking about violence in sport, just watch WWE/WCW/NXT etc. It's often said it's all fake, but you can't be flung over someone's head, fall on a metal step ladder and be hit with a metal folding chair and not be hurt. I was just watching a few minutes where Mick Foley stacked 3 pallets, with a couple of broken boards, then picked up Triple H who was covered in blood, and suplexed him onto the pallets. That's violence. Or women(?) kicking each in the face and stomach. And the womens champion until she had a shoulder injury from being flung into a wall, was an Aussie from Adelaide.
  9. The old joke says Soccer is 90 minutes of pretending to be hurt, rugby league is 80 minutes of pretending not to be hurt.

    Quickies part 2

Texan flies into Sydney, gets in a taxi and asks to go to his hotel in Manly, so they have to go through the city and across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. As they’re driving towards the city, the texan sees the Sydney tower, and asks the taxi driver “What’s that?’ Taxi driver says “Mate, That’s Sydney Tower!” Texan asks ‘How long did it take to build it?” Driver says “Dunno! I think about a year”! Texan says “Back home in Texas I own a construction company, and my boys could’ve done that job in 6 months, tops!” Driver nods, impressed! A bit later the Texan sees the Sydney Harbour Bridge. “Hey Fella, What’s that?” Driver says “ Sydney Harbour Bridge, Mate!” ‘How long did they take to build that?” Yeah, Not sure! I think it took about 2 years!”. Texan says “My boys could’ve knocked that up in under a year, Maximum!” As they’re driving onto the Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Texan looks out his window and sees the Sydney Opera House, he asks the Driver ‘Hey Fella, that white building down there, What’s that?” Driver says ‘Fucked if I know mate! It wasn’t there this morning!’
  11. A must read. “Talented and well-practiced in every vice, a stranger to compassion or empathy, a liar and a cheat so complete in perfidy that he has elevated his dishonesty to hold it up as an ersatz moral principle. Violent, so long as he can order someone else to do the dirty work. Grotesque in body, graceless in action, in possession of a wounded self-regard so colossal as to smother any spark of grace. Treasonous, not only to country, but to every ally he has ever had, the poisoned fruit and rankest flower of racism and contempt for women, and utterly devoid of shame for his moral and spiritual bankruptcy. That is your leader. That is to whom you give your money. That is who you follow and laud. That is whose banner you willingly carry. Why? Because he is a mirror, not a lighthouse. You see yourselves in him. He is what you would be, if you had inherited money and could shed the last vestiges of conscience and shame. No, I do not “respect your choices,” nor do I admire your loyalty and dedication to this miserific, demoniac vision. You have demonstrated not only a lack of civic virtue, loyalty to the Republic and to the rule of law, but a willingness to engage in violence and sedition at his slightest expressed wish. And you will never, ever admit you were wrong. Because you see your dark, twisted, resentful dreams in him. And to renounce him is to renounce yourselves.” ~ Advocatus Peregrini
  12. I was going to quote some sections of the above posts, but there are just too many. Posts from a Facebook group called Feminist News have been cropping up on my Facebook screens for some time. In some respects, one could be excused for thinking that women may have brought some of this on themselves, but on the other hand, they are correct. And you could say it gets back to the marriage vows and the way we view relationships. I know that sounds convoluted, but I will try and explain. The marriage vows say something to the effect that each promises to keep only to each other, foresaking all others, so long as they both shall live. Men and women both have "needs", but to a different extent. Often the man seeks to satisfy his need, but the woman says "No, it's my body, I decide what I do with it and I don't feel like it." This leaves a man hanging frustrated, particularly if this continues for a protracted period. If he insists, it is considered rape. If he seeks satisaction elsewhere, it is considered cheating. He is in the wrong either way. This frustration leads to violence in many cases. The alternatives are to suck it up and live with it, or separate/divorce. There are other comments from these women. One such comment was, "There are other alternatives. You have a hand. Do I have to spell it out?"
  13. OK. You made your point. There have been 31 women killed in this country so far this year. We are about 3.75 months into the year. That means over 8 women are being murdered per month on average. Approximately 2 a week. What is your solution to solve this abominable situation?
  14. Still done in some US states. How else do you teach men they are not entitled. There is no excuse for violence against women, particularly murder. I have no problem with corporal or capital punishment if the crime warrants it. If you behave yourself, it won't bother you.
