If it is anything like the ones that I have used, each emailed link has a unique number (usually called a token?) that can be used to track whether the participant has completed the survey. Then the software automatically sends reminders to the anonymous participants before the deadline. True anonymity is a bit of a farce, at the very least your IP address is available to the software, and I presume a good IT guru could crack the database to find the list of which tokens have been claimed etc. If being made redundant, you especially have nothing to lose in telling them how you really feel!

Picked up 11 likes, so I don't think anyone took offence. We see that "struggle to get the words" regularly in Victoria with people involved in the Black Saturday fires too, but far better to share than not.

I did up a 1966 Suzuki T20, and parts for that mostly came from the Netherlands and the UK. That wasn't a cheap exercise, but nothing like a Z1300. Current project is a 1973 Suzuki A100, parts are readily available in Thailand of all places.

M61A1, I was quite fond of the 1000, but wasn't much of a fan of the 750. You don't see many people volunteering to restore a 750 these days, with good reason.

I seem to recall a bill for $1500 for camchains and tensioners for a VF1000F about 15 years ago. These days I try to stick with two strokes for restorations, at least the parts prices are not so bad....

Interestingly, when I first moved to Melbourne and fronted up for a job interview, the second question I was asked was which (AFL) team I barracked for. I blustered my way through by explaining that I came from Queensland and didn't really understand AFL so didn't follow a team. Apparently that was an acceptable answer, but if I had said Collingwood, I would have been unlikely to get the job!

I must have missed the comment about not being in this forum Don, although a couple suggested that offtopic would be better than humour. Please dont think that I suggested that people shouldn't express their opinions. But I was starting to see some people for whom I have a lot of respect for (at least from theur posts as they are strangers in real life) who seemed to be heading towards open brawling. But do you spend your days attempting to convert those who are determined to not be converted? Or spend your time where you might make a difference. When it comes to politics, a steadfast belief in one side or the either is hardly likely to improve the prospect for hummanity.

I haven't seen anyone say that the mods don't do a great job; nor that this thread shouldn't be here. Not even that people shouldn't express their views. But after awhile, surely it gets a bit pointless to try to convert those who are just as ardent supporters for something that is opposite to what you believe in.

People should agree to disagree sometimes, and just respect the fact that others may hold wildly different ideals, and that their personal reasons to hold those ideals can be just as valid for them as for anyone else. I think most people come here to talk and read about flying, and in that regard, I don't care what their political affiliations are. It isn't www.conservativerecreationalflying.com any more than it is the www.socialistrecreationalflying.com forum.

So it starts with a harmless (but perhaps politically incorrect) joke based in the UK. Quickly progressed to immigration, policy, politics, and even a little history, followed by a little sledging, more "think of the children", through to what is really wrong with this country. Then came firearms, self-defence, and a bit more ethnic debate. Of everything that has been said, this is probably the most informed statement of the thread: I'd count that as a win for Jabiru on an aviation forum!
