The old days

Just sorting through old photos and feeling nostalgic. During my days as an Airforce musician, we used to perform on Lord Howe every few years.

On this trip when I managed to smuggle Mrs. Octave aboard.

The runway at Lord Howe is quite short (about 880 metres from memory). we did sometimes have some interesting missed approaches

Before landing, the crew would usually do a bit of a circuit of the island at low altitude and allow us to be unstrapped and crowd around the windows.

On this occasion, after takeoff, they opened the back ramp and allowed us to stand on the back ramp for a great view of Balls Pyramid.

ahh good times
