1. Big gripe. For some unknown reason every time I open this site I need to log in to see attachments or post. Never did that before.
2. C'mon, One Fill to another, let's hear a rendition.
3. Last year golfing in China, we travelled coach to various courses mostly on freeways. I noticed guys and gals sweeping the roads with hand brooms! Through the interpreter I asked how many get killed? The answer was. They are wearing high vis vests!
4. Just found, looks real. PHIL
5. I, in my wisdom worked out that any call not responded to in 3-4 seconds was a scam call. Daughter ringing from Israel questioned why I always hung up? Get a bit wary now and wait for a foreign voice before dropping the phone. I applied for a visa to China a couple of years ago, same thing, pause, Mr phil? I nearly told him to sod off. Good trip. PHIL
6. Can't find the pic taken from box brownie camera in the 60's near outback Tibooburra Nsw. Grrr. Obviously I took the previous pic in kings Cross and didn't wind on the film. No parking sign centre of scene! PHIL.
7. I always carry a broom handle in the dark, just in case
8. Saw a sign on an empty lot. CLEAN PHIL WANTED.
9. Col, Only if you don't own Telstra shares. Most Super funds have them in their portfolio PHIL.
10. I received this email from an ex Pollie in my query to him about an email circulating about the gross retirement packages they are supposed to get. Perhaps this will clear the air somewhat? Phil. 1. No MP elected after 2001 (14 years ago) will ever get a parliamentary pension. They now get the same super contributions as any other public servant. Those elected before that date contributed 17.4% of their salary towards their pension (and still do). For example the PM contributes about $87,000 to his pension every year. Less than 50% of MPs qualified for a pension before that date. Judges and military people still get pensions , MPs do not. I suspect the next PM will not get a pension because they will have been elected after 2001. 2. Retired politicians have to comply with all Centrelink laws just as every other Australian does. MPs don't receive a salary after leaving politics whether it's by choice or defeat, so the nonsense about salaries after politics further down in the email is completely false. Further down he has confused salaries with pensions and the maximum pension was 75% of the average wage of the MP, not 100% of their best wage - there is a big difference! I thought it was laughable that he suggested that people push for a salary of only 2 years after leaving politics, when the severance pay for those elected after 2001 is zero (unlike most other jobs) and there is zero salary. I repeat zero salary. 3. That suggestion would be illegal under any contract law and would have a minuscule effect on debt. When we were in government under Howard and Costello we got rid of all debt and had $40 billion in surplus, so the same reasoning would say the MPs who produced it should get a share of that surplus - not very smart reasoning. 4. MPs have not voted on their pay rises for 9 years and are determined by an independent tribunal - it was Abbott who made the suggestion to the independent tribunal for a pay freeze and it was accepted . MPs have not had a pay rise in over 2 years but I hear there is one coming. There was a larger than normal pay rise about 3 years ago in exchange for no overseas study trips and a severe reduction in gold pass entitlements. ( gold passes went to less than 15% of former MPs for long and distinguished service.) 5. MPs have never had a privileged health care system and are treated equally as every other Australian citizen. Unlike other Australians MPs don't get holidays or holiday pay leave loading, in fact they are normally expected to work on holidays eg Australia Day, Anzac Day etc. 6. MPs have to comply with all laws without exception. What a silly suggestion! 7. You cannot void contract law. The rule of law is essential for good governance and international standing. That sort of suggestion would only come from a banana republic devotee. Of course this idiot says you should pass it on to 20 people if you agree but delete if you don't. I think people should pass on the facts to 20 people not the fiction and lies.
11. Recently I loaded the upgrades into my car GPS. Took me a while to work out what the " ding" was? Happens every time you pass a speed sign! Couple of times I would have missed the sign except for the notification. I use regularly now, even on known routes. I have been fortunate over the years with only three speeding fines in 63 years, two before GPS technology, the other was before the upgrade where I missed the sign. I agree that looking for speed signs in busy traffic is mentally draining. PHIL.
12. Now, that IS amusing! I can't seem to wipe the smile from my face. Apparently he never ventured too far north, as no mention of the large lizards called crocabloodydiles. PHIL.
13. Perhaps too many posts for moderator to take action against poor old Dazza. (New line) I have tried to be as literate as possible with my 7th grade education. However, I reckon he should stop abusing his fellow forum members for their opinions on this site. PHIL.
14. Stumbled across an Aboriganal burial site years ago in a clay pan. Circular about 2 ft in diameter obvious by the colour change and some skull showing due to erosion. Have often wondered if they were buried sitting up. Phil.
15. My memory of my cricket "career" was that the umps removed the bails at the end of a session. Probably indicating the dead ball rule. Phil.
16. Some years ago, the last ball before lunch, the batsman was rapped on the pads with no appeal. During the break the ump mentioned that if there had been an appeal he would have given him out. On returning to the crease a player appealed and the ump put up his finger. Could have been an old wives tale or the ump didn't know the dead ball rule. Phil

18. Spoke to an importer in QLD recently. They are agents for solar panels from Italy which look and act as TILES. Can be used on walls, roofs, fences etc. I didn't take a lot of interest at the time but they may have an interesting product here. Phil.
19. I have had a 5 kW solar system for about two years now. I run a domestic pump from the river with 30 mt head for garden and domestic usage. Averages out to be close to $500 a quarter saving on past AGL statements. Only use the main appliances ie washing machine, during daylight hours though. Did some sums a while back, it worked out to be around 30% return on the investment. A no brainier in my opinion. Phil.
20. we used to sell ph meter testers, battery powered. for around $90. they had an adjustment screw to calibrate against distilled water. also sold ph tablets at various ph settings. haven't had any for yonks, if this is what you are looking for i can investigate supplier for you. phil
21. I have always been of the opinion that you should " love your job" if not, get out of there. I guess that financial circumstances play a part in this scenario by what has been revealed so far. Personaly, I would confront the bully with my grievances and take notes of their response and any further hassles referred to the supervisor / manager You don't need this. Imagine if you were working in a machine operating environment where safety was a priority. Could be big problems! IMHO
22. Slip of a finger in turbulence could say fuk you me Looking out my office window (as you do) I noticed a sighn (sic) writer painting on the building acrross the road. It took me a while to work out that he had painted a two metre long sign saying "enterance" Another time when touring QLD I noticed a largish sign at a new building block "Clean Phil wanted" I bet he got all he wanted.
23. Talking of the English language as a kerfuffle (thats one for you to ponder on Phil) Do the Germans, Italians have X word puzzles? Phil
