1. I have been using Windows 8.1 for some time now however I missed the Start menu and other useability features of Windows 7 so I thought I would post what I have done to Win 8.1 to make it like Win 7 for those that feel the same as me. Here is a screen shot of my desktop of Win 8.1 with the Windows 7 start button feature: Firstly right click on the task bar across the bottom of your screen and select properties, and then click the Navigation tab. Set the settings like this: Next, download and instal a great addon for the Start Button called Start8 which only costs $4.99, (there is a free trial version), don't worry about any of the other products there unless you want Then use the settings in Start8 to create the Start Button. If you want the default Win 7 desktop picture, I have included it attached to this post. Just simply download that and set your desktop background to it Hope this helps to stop being frustrated with Windows 8.1
2. It could be one of the scripts that could be causing the issue or our security software we use on the site. This weekend, being a long one and not going home for it, I am going to try and update it then. The forum software will be updated, the security will be updated and I will most likely be removing the chat room which will reduce the scripts as well. I will be interested to know if your issue is fixed after this.
3. Your right there, the build quality of the sp is extremely good and i really liked the built in stand
4. Some time ago I purchased a Microsoft surface pro 2 but it only lasted a couple of weeks before I sold it. Trying to run windows on a 10 inch screen is very frustrating and near impossible trying to tap files in explorer, using drop downs etc not to mention the eye strain that limited my use of it to only short bursts...In my opinion the surface pro lacks an identity to what it is trying to be, a tablet without Internet connectivity unless you use wifi or purchase an Internet dongle and have that sticking out the side and have to carry around with you, or a very small pc that is hard to use. Yesterday I went out and purchased the mother of all tablets...The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 inch with both wifi and 4G connectivity...WOW, this ain't for the faint hearted...it's BIG and probably too big for many but there is nothing like having a keyboard this size to minimize your typing mistakes with your fingers and reading documents/Web pages in A4 size just like you would normally do on paper. Battery life seems brilliant, it's not even draining the battery...The reviews are saying about 10 hours battery life so I can believe that. The note taking capabilities with the s-pen seems extremely powerful with what playing I have done with it so far, videos are so crystal clear compared to the ipad I was using, now a good plate for my instant dinners. Still, there is a lot more exploring to do with this new toy, oops tool, to see what it's full potential is going to be, too big for a cockpit, unless you make room specifically for one and use it with aviation apps while flying, but nonetheless a magical tablet for those like me with big fingers and old age eye sight
5. This site is covered in many ways including the site rules where post liability falls on the person creating the post and finally if it went to a legal challenge they can have fun suing a "Legal Trust" that has no assets other than just the site content, so the site would keep going and new content would start fresh the next day...however, we do try and keep everything above board for everyone's protection as best we can
6. Australian blobfish voted world's ugliest animal
7. Well we have been using the Samsung Galaxy S4 phones now for about a week and I must say they are absolutely incredible phones...brilliant size, great screen and clarity and the battery lasts for ever...thoroughly recommend these phones to anyone in the market for a new one
8. To rub salt into the wounds and the very opposite to "normal", Corrine paid $30 less and it comes with an extra battery...wrong time though as we can't afford 2 top shelf items like these...have to get some more sponsors for the site, and quickly
9. Having a Samsung Galaxy S2 mobile phone Corrine thought she would get me a new Samsung Galaxy S4 which she got from Ebay however it didn't arrive on time so all she kept saying was my Father's Day present was coming and should arrive in the next day or so. This morning I was on Ebay and thought well, I might as well buy myself a Father's Day present and was lucky enough to win an auction for something that I have also been wanting I went and told Corrine that I have won for myself a brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phone on Ebay ...so much for me getting a present for Father's Day when the wife now obviously gets one as well...the only consolation is that Corrine thought I would want a white one so she got a white one whereas I got a black one...it pays to communicate to the wife on anything you are about to purchase
10. Well they have come all the way with Samsung this week releases their new "Smart Watch": http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/123222-samsung-galaxy-gear-everything-you-need-to-know
11. Nite...term used by school children these days when it gets dark outside Nite...term used by school children when little crawly things take residence in their hair (keeping up with the English language and the education standards of today)
12. Then there is the Kiwi Sheep...but let's not start on that...remember I lived in NZ for 8 years, married a Kiwi/Pommie and my first born is/was a Kiwi (now Aussie)
13. You are right...they have sky rocketed...I can retire soon:
14. It because you must frequent the Retirement Home web sites
15. Yes I can do that...there is a modification that I can install so any user can add their own Google Adsense code into a field in their site settings which will display a Google advert in every post they make...the modification can be set so the user gets 75% of the clicks money and the site gets 25% BUT, one sure way of destroying the site
16. You are referring to the Google driven advert that is in the right column of some site pages that I get a measly tuppence for if you see something of interest in it and click it...I am currently getting around a dollar a day. However, it displays advertisements based on your browsing history so not everyone sees the same advert...if you are seeing girls, well I wonder what your web browsing history is like
17. When I worked at 3KZ I use to do the Val Morgan Cinema Advertising recordings with Graham Kennedy and Rosemary Margon...boy I can tell you some stories that happened in the studio with them two...what a laugh

19. Today my son asked what it was like when I became a teenager, what TV show was my favourite and what music did I remember. This sent me on a nostalgia trip down memory lane and I found these two little gems...hope you like them:
20. I was letting this go whilst it was a "general" and interesting conversation however, as usual when talking politics, it has sunk into the depths of disparity that will not end well...besides it isn't aviation so thread is now closed
21. I lived in Auckland when they introduced MMP and felt from that first alliance with Winston Peters, nothing ever got done in the country from then on as they were always so busy fighting with each other...not to mention the deals they had to do...you vote for one party yet they drop many of the things, the very reasons why you voted for them in the first place, just to form an alliance with another party so they could govern...so what's the point of voting for any party Corrine, the wife and a Kiwi, came an Australian citizen by simply filling in the form and going to a ceremony, the cost of it all was very minimal. My daughter was born in NZ and at 2 weeks old became an Australian citizen (by descent) by just dropping the forms of at the Australian consulate (???) in Quay St Auckland...if I recall there was just something like a $100 lodgement fee
22. NZ has MMP (Multi Member Proportional) instead of FPP (First Past the Post)...a disastrous political system that promotes a lack of ability to get anything done due to alliances having to be formed instead of being able to govern in a parties own right (although possible but extremely rare)...introduced in the mid 90's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed-member_proportional_representation
23. A British woman convicted of racism after calling her New Zealand-born neighbour an Australian has had her name cleared. Last November, Petra Mills was arrested after calling her neighbour a "stupid fat Australian" during a drunken tirade on her front lawn. The neighbour, Chelsea O'Reilly, says Ms Mills knew she was born in New Zealand but used the term "Australian" to offend her. Ms Mills was charged with racially aggravated public disorder and fined $162. However, the local court in the city of Chester has overturned the decision, ruling that using the word "Australian" is not a racist slur. Ms Mills has since moved to north Wales to escape the embarrassment caused by her conviction.
