(Ian, this image won't increase beyond 300 pixels wide so will be hard to read on some screens.)

I set all images to display at 300x300 to minimise a users bandwidth and to increase the display speed. If a user wants to see any image larger they just have to click on it.

  2. That's great to start threads like this as they help me tremendously to set things up for everyone...for example what categories would be best for groups etc.

  3. My son had to do an Auslan SAC (sign language exam) at school today but as all schools in Vic are now closed due to COVID 19 the school has asked all students to video themselves doing a sign language presentation and upload it to the school portal to be marked.

    Here is my son's submission:

  4. Good advice @onetrack plus another thing that I do every 6 months or so is to completely wipe the hard disk (I use twin Samsung NVMe's set in RAID0 so it is easy for me to just dump the RAID) to start clean and reinstall Windows and everything else. You will be surprised how much better performance you get from a clean fresh install but remember to backup first as I am sure you are backing up each week anyway...arn't you ?

  5. The wife Corrine decided to wash her car so I said she could do mine for me as well. I went outside to see how she was going and she was in the middle of washing the back of the car when she asked me, "What are the two holes for"...pointing to the exhaust pipes ...doh

If you didn't love them you would just throw yonnies at them

  6. I will tell you a story when I first started at primary school...

The teacher noticed that I always painted in black so she was concerned. She spoke to my parents of her concern and together they felt that I should see an Education Dept Psychiatrist as it was felt that I had some very dark issues going on in my brain. After about 4 sessions at the Psychiatrist's clinic they put me in a room with a 2 way mirror. In the corner were a whole lot of paints all in different colours except there was no black paint. Apparently I am told that I lost it and screamed and cried. The plot thickened as they couldn't work it out. They tried again except they included the black paint of which I happily went over, grabbed the black paint and started painting.

To cut a long story short and after about 8 sessions they finally worked out what that sinister black paint issue was in my brain...

In the classroom I sat the furthest away from the paints so when it was paint time by the time I got to the paints, black was the only one left!!!!!!

Fantastic Education Dept Child Psychiatrist at work...I was moved closer to the paints where I happily painted each day in different colours

  7. My son Lachlan wants to be a graphic design artist when he leaves school and he is extremely good at it, so his teachers say and in fact get Lachlan to do pamphlets etc for the school.

However I am a bit worried about him.........

Here is a piece of art he has just drawn at school...we asked him what does it represent for you and he replied with "It's meant to be she is hiding away from happiness and her happiness is melting away"

  8. It was my 60th birthday the other day...I was wondering what the wife had got me as she wanted to borrow the Mondeo Wagon to pick up my birthday present as it wouldn't fit in her Focus even with the seats down. Anyway I soon found out, it was a new garage workbench that is almost 2m long...you may know I went from a ford faimont wagon that is built on the longer Fairlane chassis and I could sleep laid out in the back...the Mondeo is considered a medium size car but I can still sleep in the back laid out and I am exactly 6ft. You have to wonder about utes these days for anything other than pure work horse to carry large high things in as I can fit so much in the back of my Mondeo (it also has a tow bar and its diesel) and I get 5.5 litres per 100 klms and a ute would use twice the fuel

  9. I can beat that gripe...For 14 years now living in Melbourne we have had Braemar ducted heating and now wishing we were on the Sunshine Coast even if it is overcast. Every 2 years the Braemar unit breaks down with the main circuit board failing. Now get this, it is always within a few weeks of every 2 years, it is always on a Friday evening leaving us without heat for up to a week as the Braemar service don't work on the weekend and it is always the Friday before a cold snap.

Two years ago we got sick of it so we replaced the whole unit with a brand new one...it is 2 weeks short of 2 years and it failed again and again on a Friday and again just before the current cold snap. The only company allowed to fix our unit due to area ownership is a company called Darebin Gas who always come out and say some crap like water had got into the system so they don't have to fix it under warranty and demand payment up front of about $700. If I decide no I want a 2nd opinion I can't get one and I have to pay them $150 call out and they leave the unit in pieces.

Well, today I finally got the company that installed the unit to come out and check it and they say the electronics board has failed and there is absolutely no water in it, no marks of any kind of previous moisture so the unit being only 2 years old is under warranty and they will advise Seeley/Braemar.

But also get this, the unit comes with a 5 year warranty. However if the unit was 4 years and 50 weeks old and the electronic board fails, the brand new electronics board they put in only has 2 weeks warranty even though when the unit was new the electronics board gets a 5 year warranty.

There is something very very wrong with Braemar and Darebin Gas...there is something very very wrong with a unit that fails every 2 years almost to the day, always on a Friday and always right before a cold snap.

Figure that one out...do I have a GRIPE?
