  1. In my dual fuel BA series 2 fairmont ghia i had to have new injectors put in at around 90k on the clock but i have never had to touch the au. One stupid thing is the au always used oil on a big trip like 2 litres of oil doing a melb to brisbane. It has been like it ever since the lpg was done, all 170ks untill a couple of months ago when i had it serviced. The guy doing the service said that he replaced some metal washer or something with a plastic one so it shouldn't use any oil now. He was correct, it hasn't used a drop of oil doing canberra to melb to canberra 5 times since. The service people i use in canberra who also do lpg conversions really know what they were doing so lesson learnt is that not all lpg conversion people are the same and i would hate to think how much i have paid out in oil over those 170k
  2. The au gas conversion was one of the earlier types which resulted in less power and more lpg used than petrol but when we got a BA series 2 it was much better and that was 8 years ago. The current dual fuel systems i believe are almost 1 to 1 with petrol in terms of power and usage. You are right Nev, a very hard decision and one i am having trouble trying to decide on. Although irrelavant to the decision, the one thing i do like about the lpg is i have never had to worry about when to fill up...i just drive the car on lpg till it is empty and then say perhaps i need to look for the cheapest fuel soon. This also enabled a good mix for the engine with some petrol use for the seals etc running say 90/10 between lpg and petrol
  3. I am considering buying a new ford territory and need advice on the best fuel system for me. Firstly i am driving a ford au fairmont wagon and for the last 17 years it has had lpg duel fuel. It has done 170k in those 17 years and the dual fuel option has been great. Possibly for the next 2 years i will be driving the territory doing a round trip of Melb – Canberra – Melb every 2nd weekend but with very little driving around Canberra in between. After 2 years it may average 10k a year as a normal family car. The Territory I am looking at getting is the RWD only Titanium which already has ample boot space if I went for LPG dual fuel with a donut tank and the spare wheel in the boot. Diesel naturally has more torque bit dirtier, servicing cost, smaller engine and higher fuel per litre cost. But the difference in cost between a new diesel Territory versus a petrol version and dual fuel addon would possibly be around $1500 more for the LPG. I would expect to keep the car up to 15 years like my au wagon now 17 years old. What type of fuel would you go for?

  5. It's because they have a captive market by having the millions of users already on apple devices most (not all) users tend to stay with what is already preloaded and ready to go on their device and apple already have your credit card details etc
  6. Apple is out to destroy everyone. Take for instance this latest apple music, there are 30 other providers of this which creates good competition but soon those 30 companies will be destroyed because of apple. They already make billions but now are set out to destroy all the small companies and industries putting many people out of work etc...i will not touch an apple device

  14. Well, I am in Canberra now and staying in an apartment 100 meters from the Air Services building, no I am not working for them, but this apartment is only for short term until I find a cheaper one but work is paying for a week in this one. If anyone reading this is in Canberra, let me know and perhaps we can hook up for a drink some time...what else is there to do in Canberra
  15. Thanks Don, I remember one time when the family and I went there for a visit many years ago and we stayed at a caravan park in one of their units. We woke up in the morning, couldn't have a shower, no water to make a coffee...all the water had frozen in the pipes. The caravan park owner had to come over with an industrial size hair dryer to heat the pipes up. I was dying for a coffee by the time he had got the water flowing again.
  16. I have obtained a position with a Government Agency in Canberra and I start on Monday the 16th March, 6 month+ contract so I was wondering whether anyone here would happen to have a 1 bedroom apartment available for rent in Canberra. Better to help someone here first than to go to the agents. If so please let me know ASAP, thanks
  17. If you remember years ago there was an advert with a dentist brushing his teeth and the voice over said "This is ???, a dentist so we can't show you his face...", well that was actually a teacher at my children's school who acted in commercials on the side
  18. I have sat back over the years watching tv ads for new super duper toothbrushes and shavers and always asking the question how marketing is telling us that our previous toothbrush or shaver can be improved. I mean at what point do they stop, throw another blade in a shaver, WOW a 2 blade shaver is better because the first blade pulls the up and the following blade cuts it, now 5 blades are even better. The new toothbrush is designed to get in between teeth but the next new one gets in between teeth and has a specially shaped bristle. When do they stop and have the perfect shaver or toothbrush because there is only so much you can do with these...until now http://techcrunch.com/2015/02/17/oral-b-pro-7000-smartseries-with-bluetooth-review/#mcyIEw:Ayp

  20. I really want one of the new 12inch surface pro 3 tablets from MS but the two big things stopping me is in this day and age mobility is what tablets are all about and who in their right mind would make a fantastic tablet that doesn't have connectivity outside of wifi. The only way you can use this tablet away from wifi is to carry around a dongle with you to connect to the internet when on the go. The other major drawback with it is the way the pen just attaches to the side, i bet you will lose a few of these over time unlike other tablets where the pen inserts into the housing.
  21. I use 8.1 adjusted to win 7 look and feel and have found it a lot better than 7 or 8...very quick, no issues like BSOD and very nice with the 7 start menu and gaphics etc
  22. It is most probable that it is strategic. This will have a huge impact on developers and development not only with the new browser, hopefully they will abide by browser rules this time and not create their own rules, but also that windows 10 being cross platform. I can see that if you have an android phone you can dump android and install windows on it. This will send app developers straight to windows and MS will get loads of income from apps. It will, in my opinion, cause a huge shakeup in the whole IT industry especially against Google and Apple

  24. I would prefer one card, one that has embedded into it: Your drivers license Your credit cards Your industry licenses Your Medicare card Your Flybuys card Your myki card etc etc etc Easy to do with technology now and readers can be set up to just read the portion of the card relevant to what card aspects they need...but then the Wallet manufacturing companies would go broke, cows and pigs wouldn't be needed as much, price of meat would drop, heck...why don't we just all have a chip inserted under the skin with all our info from our cards plus GPS location, pacemaker ability, cochlear capability, etc etc etc...you get the idea, would be good though (Now, where is my wife at the moment.....stuff the wife, WHERE IS MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER RIGHT NOW)
