  1. Funny that recreationalflying.com is the only website I have ever encountered, anywhere that suggests my current browser is out of date, and offers google chrome as a suitable alterative.
  2. I had noticed Chrome took a lot longer to load pages but now think it is the ads that are slowing it down. I still can't work out why I can't install a newer version of IE.
  3. Are any of you other dinosaurs running Vista 64 operating system on your computer, getting a meesage up the top that your browser is out of date and is not displaying the website properly? Only seems to effect the notification buttons and the top of page button at the bottom. When I downloaded IE 11 and then IE10 I got a message that my operating system can't run the installation file. Windows update says everything is up to date. Is anyone running Vista 64bit with a later Internet Explorer than 9.0.8112.16421 successfully? I have tried Chrome but don't like the continuous bombardment with video ads that open themselves and chew up my meager dowload allocation, don't get that with Internet Explorer.
  4. A firmware hack that make use of all the circuitry would get a bit of traction with occasional mobile users like me who see sparingly on small screens, I could tolerate the larger format of an ipad mini for my odd voice call to just be able to read my SMS without digging out my glasses. Retina screen is a lot better than anything else I have used to date, but just bugs me that the functionality is locked away from users by the firmware!
  5. Does an ipad sim have a phone number attached to it? The ipad has all the electronics to use as a phone, only the firmware won't allow this.
  6. McDonalds free wifi would get just as over-subscribed when school get let out as our wireless tower does when the kids get home from school.
  7. So Doug, you fly from Bunnings to McDonalds, on to Hungry Jacks, wait , bit of a blackspot here until we get to the Shell roadhouse half way to the next town. Then buildings on the horizon, soon be able to check the radar again!
  8. My internet I am typing to you on now is bush 3G, as far as I know Narribri, two hours drive away is the nearest 4G, satellite is the only other choice as far as I know.
  9. How does it deliver it's 2Gb monthly data allowance then, I would like to read the link you got this info from before I sign up.
  10. Louie I think you are right, need a credit card ready. All last months payment is lost if you recharge early so don't get caught by that. I talked to them this morning and number portability from telstra is quite doable too. Amazing that Telstra can sell service to these wholesalers so cheap that they can out compete like this but they persist with outright extortion when dealing with their retail customers. There are a lot of Optus towers out here now, but the unhappy Optus customers nearly out-number the unhappy Telstra customers.
  11. Good luck Frank, stay safe! I hope you can bring in some young hands to help you straighten things up next week.
  12. That looks like what I need Mick, I logged into my account last night and discoverd they have relieved me of $87 in the last thiry days for data I thought I was using off my internet plan. My Nokia was doing too before I started with this iPhone, I was just too busy to notice. Does it's unlimited talk include to mobile numbers or only fixed lines?
  13. Telstra shop couldn't tell me how much they rip me off for data on my pre-paid, but they gave me a number for an under-paid asian lady who earned her bowl of rice by telling me I was charged $2.00 per Mb as long as my credit lasted, She got my reaction for free, call it her bonus!
  14. The whole internet service provion industry is at a tipping point at the moment, just like they were when dial-up became over-subscribed. They don't have enough bandwidth for everyone to run their five wifi devices throughout the whole house as they have promoted for the last five or six years and the web designers are squandering download at unprecedented rates. This leaves us caught in a sort of digital bracket creep where our previosly useful internet plans are fast becoming useless. In dial-up the solution was unlimited plans but they seem to be the luxury of the few who can access non-Telstra ADSL2+ providers, not coming to a regional exchange near you, anytime soon.
  15. Thanks, that is what I needed, at 6.25 yesterday morning. I have been stung by my Nokia before setting up Ovi maps, I should have been smarter.
  16. So what causes an iphone that was happy for two days downloading from wifi, to suddenly turn and bite it's pre-paid owner with a $66 dollar gouge in about fifteen minutes. No warning it had switched until the dirty little low credit warning. Gotta hate technology, if people behaved like our gadgets you wouldn't let them in your house!
  17. I needed every one of my 150mm and was glad for it, still destocking my place but it lifted the market to nearly double for my cattle I had to sell on Friday.
  18. The weather isn't hurting me Frank, but my wife just came in and told me she is grounded, apparently she left her broom outside against the house and after 150mm of rain her airframe (handle) is waterlogged!!! Grounded was an interesting turn of phrase for her without any prompting.
  19. Do you enjoy doing one days work a month for the Tax Office, for nothing, while you should be playing with your kids or grandkids. They always ask how much time I have spent completing the form every month, but they have never sent me payslip.
  20. No Battery more likely in the 1-3 range, not sure just where. It is sulphuric acid, probrably strong enough to dissolve your fish!
  21. pH of water is 7, since pH lowers toward zero with increasing acidity, you would hope the pH in your battery was nearer to 1 than 7. Like all tests, they are only reliable in their designed range, so soil pH test kits are of no use measuring the pH of battery acid.
  22. Very odd company Crashley, The link at the bottom of this page was knickers for an iPhone. http://www.dhgate.com/product/silicone-smarty-pants-apple-sexy-underwear/168799280.html
  23. Sorry, we didn't have UHF since TV was introduced, but we did get sound and pictures! We get neither now that the VHF bandwidth has been liberated for sale to pad out 4G and stuff the people who now own illegal cordless microphone PA systems.
  24. Served us well since TV was introduced but now we get nothing from our old station, pain in the butt, all we get is a bit that seeks in from queensland. Different time zone, never get to see the news. My old man put a free to air satellite system in, it gives you TV but only filler music were the ads should be which is worse than listening to the ads played 15 dB above the show you were watching and local news is a joke on satellite. I hope Juliar got plenty of dough for the bandwidth she sold off to the phone companies. The chinese TV manufacture companies and harvey norman were the only winners.
  25. I am new to this thread, What has all this got to do with spelling?
