Here's another thing I've noticed....   the river areas are getting much better at producing good wines. Or maybe as the alcohol has bitten, I have become less choosy?

Plenty of changes going on in established areas over here Nev. I reckon the main reason is to change the variety.... years ago, chardonnay was the in variety, now I reckon it may be Merlot. I reckon it's the hardest decision of all to make. Changing the rootstock at the same time would be quite easy in comparison.

Well I did ring that number and the phone was answered by a young guy who told me NOTHING. He sort of said that the rainfall could be held back for more than a month, and he couldn't tell me if the phone call would be billed to me or not.

I reckon Netanyahu has done a terrible job. How they were caught by surprise when they should have infiltrated hamas is only the start. It was clear from the beginning that Hamas was only doing it to make the response look bad, and Netanyahu has played right into their hands. He should have given more time/s for civilians to leave as the US wanted, and worked harder at making the hamas thugs look like the bad guys. And he should have nicely asked the surrounding Arab countries to take some refugees and thus made them partially guilty in the sad outcome.

I reckon he is too dumb to be leading what I hoped was a smart nation.

My ( very pro Israel ) son in law says that Gaza was given to the palestinians, complete with operating factories, by Israel.

I think that its really the prevailing westerly winds that are mainly to credit for keeping sa vines  free, fruit-fly too, for the stone fruit in sa. But every year, we hear about whole suburbs being quarantined and stripped.

Well I like Bradfield's idea, which I reckon could be considered to be the diversion ( Plus pumping) into the headwaters of the Diamantina river and Cooper's Creek.

I like your post nev, but the fact is that we had a referendum on the monarchy subject and I lost. To this day, I can't decide if Turnbull was a fool or a traitor, so bad were the pro-republic arguments.

getting back to nth Korea, I reckon we are seeing how a monarchy starts...  you have a really good murderer as a dictator, and he becomes so powerful that he can pass on his authority to his son, even if that son is goofy-looking.

But, I hasten to say, as time passes, the plebs get more powerful and begin to limit the king's powers. This is what we have these days in GB....  which is counted as a democracy, I think. It can't be a very good democracy, or we would have a vote on Charles' tenure.

I'm going to a coroner's inquest about a couple who were killed by an autistic truck driver who was on the phone at the time of the collision. My anger is at all those who made it way too easy for such a guy to be driving a truck.

Spacey, I read that the poorer kids never ate as well as they did during rationing. Further, the pommy conscripts in ww1 were 3" shorter that the german ones.  Due to the much poorer diet of poor kids in pommyland.

To the extent these things are true, the pommy homeland was a rotten and corrupt place. I think though that they are more democratic than Nth Korea, that emerging monarchy.
