Locks only keep honest people out.

    Hmmm - and opportunistic thieves.

Parked outside our accommodation in Ballarat last week, we had 5 bikes on the rack.  The 4 best ones had a bike chain with combination lock threaded around them.  Mine, the dodgiest, did not (the chain was too short for all 5).

One night I couldn't be bothered taking them all off the rack and putting them behind the house.  Next morning, there were only 4 bikes on the rack - my unchained one was gone.

I'm just hoping that whoever nicked it, it was someone who really needed it - not just a drunk who couldn't be bothered walking home.

  2. Sounds like a solution in search of a problem to me.  I work with geographically disbursed teams and it's no problem to remember that the Adelaideans are half an hour behind and the banana benders during daylight saving are 1 hour + 20 years behind... :amazon:

I wonder what gave the first beaver the idea to dam a stream.

I wonder why the writers of the sitcom "Leave it to Beaver" thought that "Beaver Cleaver" would be a good name for the lead character.

  4. I actually watched this episode.  Got to the one with the arrows and lost it there.  Never would have got the 1% question.

  5. I think the "alphabet sexuality" is more positive than not.  My son (13) quite matter-of-factly told us that one of his mates is gay,  another is pansexual and there's an intersex person in his class.

This is said without judgement or prejudice.

Imagine when you were at school.  Would those "different" kids be as fairly treated by their  peers?

  6. Is it really a huge increase, or just better labelling?

Maybe in the old days they were just the "bad kids" in class and there wasn't a word for it.

  7. Before you worry too much Peter, I think the message history in Ebay shows messages from both parties.  So have a look at your own history - if it's got your messages to the seller and the seller's to you, then chances are they get both sides of the conversation too.  So it could be their screenshot, not yours.

  8. Guess that if a group of guys want to call themselves dull, get on the internet and swap pictures of cups of tea, it's not hurting anyone.

Kind of weird, but at least they're talking to someone.  Better to be dull and talking than being dull and alone.

  9. Oh, I missed the bit about it being a 24-hour clock.  On a normal clock all digit change when the time flicks over from 11:59:59 to 00:00:00 and again when it goes from 09:59:59 to 10:00:00.  That would be 2.

    For a 24-hour clock you'd have 10:00:00, 20:00:00 and 00:00:00.  So 3?
