THAT "British?'SHOW was well-timed and presented. You are going back a while. Wasn't it in Black and white?  Nev

It was colour and amazingly was actually based on Grace brothers in Sydney, strange but true.

Hence the character "young Mr Grace".

I heard an interview yesterday. Interviewer said "is it OK to describe you as blind? I know you are totally blind." Answer- "yes, that's OK, I identify as blind. But many don't, thanks for asking".

'"Sure, I am blind rather than vision impaired .

Do you mind if I call you intellectually impaired or do you prefer just plain stupid?"

Litespeed, are you making this up just to make me jealous? How do lures work in the dark?

Whatcha gunna do when ya get sick and tired of eating fish.... and blue swimmers.... and prawns?

The lures work fine, fish can see colours we don't and have acute night vision. What's looks boring silverfish to us can be a bright kaleidoscope of colours to them.

There is a real art cum science in making a quality lure.

The lure he used looked like a 5 inch prawn and also has metal rattle beads inside the soft body and integrated  hook. I can't remember the brand but the $20 at the marina fishing shop is a bargain as they work brilliant.

Mate has caught 3 big Jews and lure is still perfect, most don't last long at all. 20kg of fillets @ $40 min a kg- the wholesaler price to quality restaurants is $800 of flesh for a $20 lure!

Buying fresh Jew is not easy, rarely seen even at the markets.

What do I do when bored of such bounty?

Like all poor buggers, I eat Oysters. I ring a friendly guy and he delivers that day $15 a dozen for the best big Sydney rocks. Or  I just grab them off the rocks myself.

I also buy quality lamb, beef or organic chook and play chef.

Here is a pick from my best friends houseboat, they are all plate size fish- Tarwhine(fast growing bream).

They are actually treated as pets and love hanging about, like living at the aquarium.

  4. I am soon re powering my "ship" with solar panels and 300 amp/hrs of lithium Ferro batteries. Mates rate at $600.

Total cost with 400 watts of panels and the equivalent of 600amp/hrs of lead acid  plus charge controller will be $1000.

That will run power, lights and fridge/ freezer for almost a week if the sun ever leaves.

New style 12v fridges are very efficient and no losses from inverters which are expensive and inefficient.

For the usable amp/hrs per dollar the lithium Ferro batteries beat lead acid easily and have far greater life without the huge weight.

The panels are flexible and very light unlike the glass/ alloy ones.  6 kg for 400 watts. They go on the hardtop above my top deck steering station, at that height weight matters for the pendulum effect.

On a 10 ton vessel, weight Is not a huge problem but getting the lead buggers moved sure is. The 200 amp lead weigh 55 kg plus each, bloody hard to get on board from a tinny esp as I am only 65 kg.

I will recycle the old lead and hopefully that buys a case of real 🍺, red Peroni naturally.

3 years ago this would have cost $3000.

    Happy days

"I" found the incorrect word s in 2 seconds. MANY & ROLES. Now where's my prize money?  (or at least a Koala stamp in the Mail)..  Nev

A koala stamp with laurels for you Nev.

Obviously a fan of my namesake "Philip" Adams.

The lazy bugger is retiring this year to his normal job of farming.

Only well into his 80's and still the sharpest knife in the draw.

  6. Well here in Port Stephens it has been bloody wet. Followed by bright sunny days.

My tinnie, named tintanic has 4 floatation seats to make it unsinkable. Alas over Friday it rained enough to fill it 2 feet deep- farrk.

Getting off the big  boat to bail the  bugger was a challenge esp when a wanker came past at speed with a big wake. With only 2 inches of freeboard left it was dicey.

However the marina is a bigger mess with a 16 ft glass boat sunk from rain and lots of submerged tinnies.

Glad the southerly low didn't eventuate or it would have been lots of submarines.

Yet again my mum at North Richmond is flooded in.

  7. It's easy to see why not.

It's not the price, which would have been huge.

It not they couldn't build it, but that's debatable, more a Italian specialist job.

But can you imagine trying to sell that next to a HT Holden?

It would make everything else seem dated, poorly made and extremely low tech- which is exactly what they were.

The GTR-X would have been barely possible, the exotic Hurricane had no chance.

A bit like Holden trying to make a Alfa Montreal or a De Tomaso Pantera.

    No chance in hell

  8. Oh,

Tv sucks , 15 years since I owned one.

I view, sbs and streaming is the go.

Everything else is just mindless crap to reduce the general IQ and keeps the sheepish ones content and stupid.

Just like bread and circuses with added blood did for the Romans.

Did no one get the  Motor Bike riding ON and OFF bit?. Why would anyone use a Lancia Beta to launch a boat. They are fetching good$$$s and always did unless there s a modern one using the same name. Very small  angled V4 originally. with a single head. Malcolm Frazer had one.  Nev

Sadly the Lancia Beta was a badly made Fiat in rusting clothes.

No real Lancia parts involved except the badge, which normally fell off in disgust..

Once the late 70's arrived the Fiat takeover meant death to the real Lancia.

The engine was a standard Fiat twin cam rebadged.

It also came with built in rust, like all period Fiats.

Even Malcom was smart enough to not lose his pants by buying such a dud.

This was a bad period to be a Italian carmaker, even Italy got the accountants disease.

  10. What other job allows you to make $20,000 plus, just by a little basic marketing, when demand far exceeds supply?

It's almost risk free and even makes money on a downturn.

No wonder it's a feeding ground for vultures.

Ethical dealing in real estate is a fiction, the games rigged and the buyer/seller gets screwed.

Marketed by the owner is a great move if you can do smart marketing and negotiation. You are after the best price and no bullshit.

A friend does drone and video footage for agents/ private sellers etc. it gives 360 views in and outside the home for a website.

That does a lot of the marketing at far better quality than a normal agent will do and a fraction of the cost. The rest is done by the owner.

A sign out the front is good but only works if you drive by, rather than a web search.

The more people who know about the property and can view it online virtually,  the higher the competition to buy and thus a better price. The market now is global.

The faster a agent sells means the owner gets screwed for their fast buck.
